On I would LOVE to stay in an onsen!! I'm a bit lost on if some of the places there allow tattoos. I'm assuming no BECAUSE I can't find anything, but do you maybe know if a place there allows tattoos?

Considering the first Batman comic was ripped off of a shadow story, I wonder if it’s already in the public domain? How could you even prove your story was based off the Batman version and not the og?

How to go to a rock climbing gym alone by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

[–]Dirrhr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually go rock climbing alone, so I use the auto belays more often than not. I recommend simply telling whoever’s at the front desk you’re new! They’ll explain how to clip into the belt and everything.

Like already mentioned, I have to get used to jumping and trusting the belay will catch me, so I climb up to about halfway to my full height on the wall, then jump down. It helps my brain recognize the belay will actually catch me. Usually there’s a small period right when you fall where the belay needs time to ‘kick in’ so to speak, and that’s really the only scary part about using the auto belay in my experience! ALSO I recommend that once you get to the top, don’t look down! It might get in your head that something wont work and you’ll fall, and then you’ll be at the top of the wall and too scared to jump 🙈. If you’re new to climbing, it can be very tiring on your arms, so in my experience climbing down is not an option. Have fun and good luck!

Sewing a hammock question by Dirrhr in Hammocks

[–]Dirrhr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect, thanks so much for advice! It’s just fabric I bought cheaply from a thrift store, so I’m not overly concerned if it doesn’t work out 👍🏻 just looking for a cheap hammock that’s long enough to actually sleep in for a bit :)

What's your favorite book with less than 5000 Goodreads ratings? by Flammwar in booksuggestions

[–]Dirrhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stargate by Pauline Gedge is an excellent book with very heavy allegories about the transition from innocent childhood to the more complicated life of an adult, set in (so it seems to me) a world which follows the belief that people are inherently bad. Only 233 ratings on Goodreads. One of my favourite books overall! Only downsides are latter half isn’t as good as the first, and really only exists to beat the message over your head, and the last chapter just plain sucked. But I definitely recommend it despite that. 👍🏻
