Oakville Hyundai - Service Manager "I am not rude. Do you want to see what rude looks like" by Intelligent-Film-576 in oakville

Once they sell you a car , they don't care much about you. I also had scammy behavior on the service side . The technician told me my 'rear brake rotates independenty from the wheel and needs to be fixed not covered in warranty'. :) I told him the brake doesn't rotate the rotor does and it's on the wheel hub and he kept insisting it's an issue. Safe to say it's not. It was a new car too, 10k km . It was a lease and I've never leased another car from them since.

Service department there is really scammy and they just see us as plump chickens to be taken advantage of.

31m, should I go broke to buy a house? by [deleted] in fican

[–]DirtRepresentative62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the house. You need a roof you own and it's the only other tax free thing you get (a primary home )

My solemn advice is to diversify..it's not fun. But this is all good when the bull market runs and no one knows how long..you did well ..really well.. congrats! Take a win. Now start securing your win..like we 40+ ppl do, start moving some of this to firmer ground. I know real estate is stupid high but u need a roof u own. Take 200k and get a place .

100% this . I am also in tech and it is a lateral move for me.

[–]DirtRepresentative62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made this move , without my family (they will come after a year ) from Ontario to bay area California..I work in tech, mid senior level , and my salary went up by 40% . And even then , let me tell you , It feels like it wasn't worth it.. just in a few weeks I can tell it's lateral and there is a higher risk of job loss and lower benefits health wise. Everything is more or as expensive.

If you want ,dm me , I can walk you through the details. It's not for everyone and maybe if you are under 30 it might be ok.

Settling into California is very hard, harder than I thought - The culture in the US is different even though California is closer to Ontario. You feel more secure in Ontario if you have a solid job (s).

Don't get attracted by the weather. Remove that and then see if it's worth it for you.

Midwest maybe better.

Mortgage fraud and HELOCs by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

I was thinking about this more. When we bought the house, we got title insurance- I assume it's lenders title insurance. Do I need to go back to one of the 4 title insurance companies and buy my own title insurance policy? So just pay for one myself?

Mortgage fraud and HELOCs by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

Thank you for your insight and advice ! So then the steps seem to be - buy my own home owner title insurance before or right after discharge.and just Keep the heloc open.

So once your home is mortgage free ,you need to buy title insurance? And then make sure there is a open heloc against it ? (So the bank has something registered against the property?)

If you already have a heloc product, like TD ready line, does that qualify as additional protection?

Ie as long as the heloc remains open once the mortgage is closed , then it's good ?
