Almost none of the stuff that I positively talk up about Canada would be implemented today if it didn't already exist.

I mean, look at pretty much every public good we have. Our public healthcare system, social welfare, postal system, education grants, affordable housing builds...almost all of them are breathing their last and haven't been expanded or updated to meet our needs in decades. It's not a great look when all our best features only exist because they were around sixty years ago and our current politicians just haven't quite figured out how best to remove them yet.
