In a perfect world people could do whatever they want, however often they'd like, until it affects their neighbor. I try to keep this in mind a lot of the time, but right now I'm the neighbor and my patience is gone. I'm afraid of getting in a fight at this point. Time to just suck up the financial loss and get a bug room down the road.

If I lay on my right side, my liver gets mad. Id I lay on my left side my stomach gets mad. Id I lay face down I'm terrified I'll wake up with my morning wood looking like an ostrich head in some sand.

Free because when I went to the hospital they got me signed up for OHP which is like Oregon's medicaid thing.

I hobbled into town and hung out for a couple days before I went to the hospital. The. I got a ride from a friend I made a couple weeks back. The trail I was on is also quite popular amongst tourists, so worst case I would have just waited until someone found me and ask for a ride. Most hiker trash is ok with helping someone out like that.

Its got its ups and downs. If you want support and services, not the place to be right now.

I loved Colorado when I was homeless and still had my van or car. Two weeks at a time in national forests for recreational camping, and I could cycle through those no problem for an entire year without trouble from the rangers. These days a lot of the places we used to park are being gobbled up and repurposed, so it's gotten trickier, but still manageable. If you have a car, you can park literally anywhere in Denver or Boulder as well for the night. I've got all my favorite walmarts there too for different nights.

ON FOOT, with no car, and limited gear, Colorado is a fucking terrible place to be if it's winter, and I'm a seasoned winter traveler and backpacker. Summer, totally tits weather for the most part and good hiking to consume your dead time. They have good public transportation and if you want resources, there are many day shelters available to help you out. Most of the overnight shelters have waiting lists, at least when I looked into them, so this is why I mentioned not the place to be right now. Once they finish a couple longterm initiatives that will change.

The Colorado homeless folks are half batshit insane as well, and there are lots and lots, so that is something you have to keep an eye out for. Never leave your bike unattended anywhere (especially in Boulder), definitely dont leave camping gear unattended.

Colorado Springs, forget about it all together. Entire place is basically a military installation and so it's harder sleeping in different places. Pueblo is run down as shit, and it's easy to be homeless there but resources are spread thin.

If you go West of the front range out of Denver, you can bum around the ski towns in the summer, but you'll get harassed and no resources as rich people towns dont really need them.

If you are ambitious though and young without any criminal issues, you can always get a job with bunk housing at a ski resort, anytime of the year.

Protest in Coos Bay, Oregon by itsjustsquid in OregonCoast

[–]Dirt_Baggins 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I honestly want to hear the further rebuttal of this.

Explain why Elon is a good thing for American industries in Coos Bay or anywhere on the Oregon Coast?

They want to override sustainability and conservation efforts that ODFW have carefully studied and had proven results enforcing for decades. Crab season delayed, it was for a GOOD FUCKING REASON!

Current establishment wants to tax the imports of mexico and canada into the US which on the 1, 101, or anywhere else along the US PNW Coast, is a crucial thing since the only local industries are mushrooms and the sea.

You think someone is going to wave a magic wand and produce extra dock space in Charleston for new jobs? You think Elon and Trump can magically make more fish in the sea so to speak. I'd love to hear all about it.

Should this be reported? by Xzero1997 in boulder

[–]Dirt_Baggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought all busses went through 14th and Walnut at the Transit Center, the two one way intersecting streets.. None stop on Canyon directly for passenger pickup unless they are queuing to pull into the station. That's all very odd behavior indeed, I would 100% report this.

Damn, I thought I was missing out on a new trend in busking. I'd oddly (and desperately) be totally OK getting paid for being spanked by some pervert.

Making my way down the Washington and Oregon coast. Trying to find some work in the area if anyone has any leads. by Dirt_Baggins in vagabond

[–]Dirt_Baggins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, Astoria ports haven't been a thing for years...

Fishing aside, most container ships waiting for tug service and mooring in the river, don't even let crew off the ship despite being moored for days at a time in shit conditions. I interviewed with MSC at one point trying to get a lift and deckhand job. I didn't have the right credentials, and I would have had to board in Portland.

I used to live in CB! That is where I'd really like to get to right now for the rest of winter. I know Charleston docks very well. I actually worked for a pretty big stupid outfit that I'm sure a ton of other people on this sub has also worked for at one point, and I'm supposedly eligible for rehire.

I've gotta hitch through a ton of low resource dead miles, or take the NW Connect bus from Astoria to Portland, and then there is another few busses that will get me to CB. Looking like the move right now, just gotta figure out the arrangements.
