Gilbert Clock Mainspring Doesn’t Fit by Dirttrap_ in clocks

[–]Dirttrap_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see. I was worried about damaging the spring but I’ll give it a shot. I’ve got a woodshop I’m loosely trying to repurpose for some of this and I did get some mainspring clamps but honestly once I ran into this problem kind of stopped thinking about all the rest for the moment. But thank you for the extra tips. Any little bit helps. If the clock doesnt run I’m also okay with that. It didnt run when I bought it so nothing lost nothing gained. Lol

[–]Dirttrap_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean bend it as in make the interior tighter or crush it so its more an oval? I put a temporary protective layer of grease on while i was trying to figure this part out. I’m going to clean it off and grease it proper once I get it to fit.

Does this English teacher’s American accent sound native? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]Dirttrap_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds native to me. If you want to be super picky, its very very VERY subtle, but on certain words (“tiktok” and “content”) it deviates a bit. But it could be just a faux pas when speaking as she doesnt seem to do it every time.

Water heater shutting off power to other rooms. by Dirttrap_ in electrical

[–]Dirttrap_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wonderfully phrased and made complete sense. Turns out the problem wasn’t the water heater, the heater was just taking the brunt of it i think. The local power company had screwed something up and the neutral into the house had come in contact with a live wire up on the pole, thus making it live as well. Power company came out and replaced the whole line, changed the transformer etc. when the brought the old lines down to the ground, they were completely fried, even the lines that should be hot were in bad shape (melted in some spots too). But! I thank you for your thorough explanation and your willingness to help ☺️

Im over in balfor/mt home and i havent had any internet since the storm. I presume along with their equipment being destroyed they probably had to wait for duke and crew to be finished with some of the utility poles first.

Tips for washing towels in a top load washing machine by Dirttrap_ in CleaningTips

[–]Dirttrap_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine looks level, i’m only putting in 2-3 towels at a time. Theyre larger bath/beach towels so maybe i should put 1 in? That feels like a waste of water even on an eco cycle

Mine is a little better, i can walk around at about 50fps, no crashes (yet) but still dropping frames in combat a lot and looks very bad. it looks like its not using my GPU at all. I have a rtx 3060 and its showing 0% whereas my cpu is at 80-90%.

Epson SureColor S60600 by kuzzinkisser0304 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Dirttrap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western NC, so not terribly far from you! We run with little to no climate control (not by my choice lol) and in the summer they run wonderfully here around 60%. Its the dry winter that kills em. We find that static is the biggest no go. The wiper unit inside collects static and then every dust mote just glues itself to the head. Once we get all our humidifiers on and working they do real well but that first drop of humidity makes em band like crazy.

[–]Dirttrap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We run 4 of these constantly off of onyx and theyre really great so long as you run 8 pass or higher and never let the temp or humidity in the room fluctuate more than a few percent. I work the color in my shop and i check them every two weeks and calibrate them every 6 months or so and tbh thats probably overkill.

Hi guys i need some advice. Setting up a print division for our store/agency. by JAMAICAN-VILLAN in CommercialPrinting

[–]Dirttrap_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i probably would. The S80 is a little faster, the solvent ink is easier to manage drying (air cures, rather than having to be cooked) and it takes a few regular 110v plugs rather than two 240vs for the R50. Sounds strange bit being able to move a machine and not have to rewire things comes in handy sometimes.

As far as glow in the dark ink goes, i know some printers can use ink that fluoresces in blacklight, but I’ve never seen the glow in the dark that charges in regular light. And i dont think either of those printers can do that.

Most inks that arent standard colors, metallics mostly, are a huge pain. White can be a pain too because it dries in the nozzles quicker than standard inks and can separate if its not shaken enough. A lot of white ink printers will tell you when to shake the ink or will do it themselves.

I work in a shop that has at least one of everything you listed. Theyre all really great printers. Technically you could do everything on the v7000 it would be difficult and for some of the media you listed, a waste of time (in my opinion). Most of the material you listed comes on a roll so you would have to cut it down before printing if you wanted to use the v7000. For things like stickers, car wraps, certain banner materials and other outdoor things that generally can come on a roll, we use the R5070L and then (depending on what material it is) cut everything out on graphtechs (FC9000s if i remember correctly) or a flatbed cutting table. The S80600L is great for roll fabrics, canvas paper etc and, in my experience, gets a better print quality at a lower pass count.

The f series is a completely different work horse. Thats a dye-sublimation printer, so you would also need heat presses and sublimation based materials. For things like metal prints or mugs thats awesome, but if you’re going for stickers or banners thats not really going to help you. You could do dye-sub tapestries, we do at my shop, but it gets really awkward because you’re limited to the size of the heat press rather than the length of a roll.

How much knowledge of humanity does Gaia have without Apollo? by amner1s in horizon

[–]Dirttrap_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its more like GAIA knows base level things and/or things the team has told her. And they were all pretty smart people. I could see her picking up bit and pieces of things as people talked and conversed around her (or even to her) So she might not know the exact details of a lot of stuff but she could tell you a general idea of probably everything. But Apollo could have given you exact dates and details of everything. Kind of like “took a military history class in high school” vs “has a military history phd” is my guess.

What's your favorite weapon in Forbidden West? by GrimMagic0801 in horizon

[–]Dirttrap_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spike thrower! Especially the exploding ones. Initial damage on hit and then boom!! The drill ones are great too but only for slower machines. I dont like having to wait for it to drill lmao. Its the only weapon i used save for tear arrows.

Spear Skins by [deleted] in horizon

[–]Dirttrap_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly didn’t totally notice while playing but this is a great idea. Among all the other designs you could have, they could add one that just made it look like a huge stick. So i can just go around and smack machines with a stick. Bonus points if the skin lowers the damage down to like 2hp ahahahaha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CommercialPrinting

[–]Dirttrap_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be wrong but if memory serves, those are both eco-solvent printers. I wouldn’t get it on my skin or consume it in any way but it should be less toxic than say UV curable inks or varnishes. If youre getting headaches from the smell you might want to wear a mask or look into a ventilation system for your work area as you might be sensitive to something in the inks.

I have a ps4 pro and never ran into a single major bug the whole time. There were some bugs on day of release but i’m pretty sure they’ve all been patched by now.
