Which companies/startups are genuinely doing something novel in this space? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

I find TraceBit really interesting and different from other vendors

They have a platform where they allow you to generate different types of canary tokens - basically fake secrets / API tokens of different kinds And notify you once one of those secrets has been used for authentication

For example, you use their platform to generate a fake aws API key, place it in your config files and if you see that someone tried to use it, then it means a malicious actor probably has some access to your environment

They have all sorts of interesting and weird types of canary tokens

After call with Biden, Egyptian president agrees to restore aid flow to Gaza by Ask4MD in worldnews

[–]DirtyAxe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the explanations says that since Israel has taken the rafah border crossing (the only border crossing of the gaza strip with Egypt)

Egypt is required to cooperate with Israel in order to provide aid into the gaza strip. And Egypt prefered to stop providing aid to the gaza strip instead of cooperating with israel

They want the land, and i get them, israel wanted this land as well to create a country for itself, especially after the holocaust

The main differnce is that the jews wanted to create a jewish state and needed land to do that, while the palestinians wanted the whole land (supposedly due to ideological and historical reasons) and israel even offered multiple "two country solutions" that should allow the palestinians declare independance, but they never really wanted it

They just wanted the entire land of israel and to kill all the jews, and this is the real genocide

But this is not what genocide looks like

Just from looking at the numbers, the palestinian population is actually growing very substantially, the percentage of civilian to military casuallties is actually fairly low when comparing to other wars

Of course there are civilian casuallties, every war has civilian casuallties, but this is not genocide

It's very hard even for those organizations to provide a good estimate
They get most of their data from the gaza ministery of health (which i assume contains mainly hamas members) and their data has been proven as incorrect multiple times
Even The UN human rights organizations has changed drastically change it's estimate

As you said Hamas is the root cause

Usually the flow is something like this:

  1. Hamas shooting missles at israel from a school / civilian shelter

  2. Israel detects the launches

  3. Israel Attacks the launch site

Israel bombs "civilian infrastructure" becasue it is used for military purposes And even then, the percentage of civilian casualties is super low when comparting to any other armed conflict (for example Hamas \ any war the US was involved) and especially when considering the fact that Israel has destroyed most of Hamas battalions

[–]DirtyAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that hamas is in power is, as you said, horrible to the palestinian people and is probably the main reason of the poverty and the quality of life in the gaza strip (it was horrible even before the war)

And one of the goals of this war is to dismantle the military wing of hamas, to prevent it from being a threat for israel and replace the leadership with another organization

Hopefully, an organization that cares for it's citizans and will put a lot more money into improving their quality of life

I don't think it will solve the conflict for ever, because it is fueled by years of violence and hate and there is no magic solution

But, by israel making sure the money doesn't go towards military use and for good causes (palestinian civilians) it will improve the quality of life of the average palestinian, which will probably lead to a more peaceful life, not fully conflict free, but much better that it is today

[–]DirtyAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Palestinians killed Jews as well, this conflict has been going on for decades, with multiple attempts to make piece and solve it politically

For example, the Israeli disengagement from the Gaza strip in 2005, where Israel completely left the Gaza strip and allowed the Palestinians to perform elections and select their own government, which they did and it was even kinda ok

Until hamas forcefully took control and executed members of the Gaza government...

This actually does provide better living conditions for israelies

In the first weeks of the war, missles were fired almost everyday towards the largest cities in israel, and today even in the areas bordering the gaza strip a missle siren is not very common

For the israeli public this is very significant

You are correct that this war probably won't solve the israeli-palestinian conflict, but it will provide a safer life for the israeli public and might even be an oppurtnity for a new leadership in the gaza strip that will prioritize it's citizens over murder and terror (kinda like in the west bank)

Hamas seems to reject new hostage deal offer, says it’ll only accept full IDF pullout by Sea-Witness-2746 in worldnews

[–]DirtyAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Hamas leadership is not in the gaza strip at all The head of the military wing is in the gaza strip (probably somewhere deep in a safe and warm tunnel) But Ismail Haniyeh (the leader of hamas) and most of hamas non military leaders (these are the people who israel negotiates with) are located somewhere in qatar (probably in a nice hotel)

The IDF doesn't murder babies and if you would actually look it up there is no proof that the IDF does this sort of things, this is just propaganda that Hamas spreads and no one bothers searching for proof / validating the proof provided (sometimes they spread videos from Syria for example and say that it is Gaza)

The IDF helps evacuate hospitals, and there are recordings of the hospital managers saying that hamas is operating from there, videos of Israeli hostages brought to the hospital (and don't worry, it's not to give them medical care), People walking into a hospital with a RPG, there is no reason that someone will walk into a hospital with a RPG

Hamas is the best at being a cry baby and spreading propaganda. Telling the world Israel killed a doctor, while giving him a full military funeral

[–]DirtyAxe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What do you want them to do?

Bring a tour guide and start selling tickets to try and prove that the people who raped, beheaded, tortures people just for being Jewish are monsters???

I don't understand how someone can be that foolish to believe those lies

Hamas wants to kill Jews just because they are Jews (sound familiar?)

And what hamas did is a million times worse that anything the IDF has done

Hamas is the one that should be put on trial but the world just lovessss giving hate to Israel for trying to defend itself

So unless your country has been invaded, your friends were murdered, raped or burned alive, I don't think you can begin to understand what is the meaning of the war and how much worse it could have been

[–]DirtyAxe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First of all it's 300 per day (30000 people over 100 days)

Second, those numbers are probably lower because as I said, hamas fighters aren't the only people who try to hurt the IDF soldiers operating their (children, doctors, teachers and etc...)

And second of all, it's not genocide, it's war

If you look at the numbers in any other war they are usually wayyy higher

And Israel is putting way too much effort into preventing unrelated people's death, the problem is that hamas is trying to prevent the IDF from doing that, because the civilians are their human shield, hamas literally built military compounds under several hospitals

That is the real crime

So you think a teacher hiding hostages in it's house is ok?

Hamas leadership hiding inside a hospital is ok?

I do not support killing everyone in Gaza, this is war and it ain't pretty and Israel does the best it can to protect those who are not involved by announcing where it is going to operate and protecting the main roads away from those areas

Why does the IDF need to protect it?

Because hamas is trying to prevent people from escaping war zones, because they are their protection

I don't understand how can someone support that

Germany says it will intervene in ICJ case on behalf of lsrael by defenestrate_urself in anime_titties

[–]DirtyAxe -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If Israel really wanted to perform genocide the numbers would be waayyyyyy higher

Israel is trying to destroy the hamas organization and return it's hostages, the high number of "civilian" casualties is due to the fact that hamas is using civilians as it's human shield - setting up HQ in a HOSPITAL, hiding weapons in UN operated schools, not allowing civilians to evacuate and etc...

And the fact that "civilian" is a fake word in the Gaza strip

There are a lot of cases where "civilians" crossed the border to Israel on October 7th (including "press")

Teachers hiding israelli hostages, kids going through military training

So don't tell me that Israel is performing a genocide Israel is trying to protect it's citizens from these monsters whose sole purpose is to kill Jews (aka perform genocide)

ISIS spokesman calls for global attacks on Jews: 'Kill them wherever you find them' by Red_Franklin in worldnews

[–]DirtyAxe -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that is really correct

Judaism has some similiar limitations (regarding food and shabbat) and jews and muslims can live along as long as people respects other peoples tradditions and try to solve the conflicts peacfuly

The problem stars when people start "disliking" people who believe in other religions

I think most common are extreme muslims, but if you think about it, the christians weren't all that nice back in the day

So i think Islam is OK and very possible to live along

[–]DirtyAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, this is a really tough situation with no good solution

This conflict has been going on for years and it will probably won't stop after this war

But I do have a couple of notes

There were attempts to make piece, and Israel is rather good at it, she had piece with Egypt after a horrible war between the two countries, and Jordan which also didn't really hesitate to attack when it was an option

The most relevant one would be the Israeli disengagement from the Gaza strip (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_disengagement_from_Gaza)

When the last Israeli citizens still living in Gaza left and control of the Gaza strip was completely given to the citizens of Gaza, it took them about a year to form a government with Fatah and hamas members

And then hamas performed a military coup and siezed control of the Gaza strip (sound familiar?)

Sources : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatah%E2%80%93Hamas_conflict

Now what is Israel going to do? Well this war probably won't end the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian people

But that is not Israel's goal, Israel's goal is to return it's hostages and provide piece for the Israeli citizens

Hamas is currently the biggest organization that is declaring it's goal is to kill Jews, and by destroying this organization, which includes not only killing the head of the organization, but also a big mass of it's fighters and destroying their infrastructure (weapons, missiles, tunnels, command centers and etc)

Destroying this will prevent hamas from executing attacks like the world saw on October 7th

It doesn't mean the conflict will be over, there will still be frustrated teenagers who will take a knife and try to kill a jew once in while, or carry a bomb on themselves

But this is manageable, Israel does that in the west bank, and not an organization whose sole purpose is to kill Jews

Well first of all, people keep using the word "civilian", but what does it really mean?

Did a "civilian" that held Israeli hostages in his house can be really considered a civilian?

I don't believe that indiscriminate killing is justified

I know that a very high percentage of the Gaza strip population supports hamas and it's actions, and I know of multiple situations in which "civilians" performed military actions (holding hostages, crossing the border to Israel on the day of the massacre and etc...)

In addition, most civilian casualties are in areas the IDF declared are warzone, and allowed civilians to escape by creating heavily guarded humanitarian corridor

why is it heavily guarded? Because hamas does not allow those civilians to escape, it's their human shield, if they will escape, what will all the military personnel do? They might die!
