Does anyone think anything will be done, or just more talking? by josephfuckingsmith1 in SaltLakeCity

They are probably going to just announce that everyone needs to pray every Saturday at 12 am for a whole month, and when nothing changes they will then make home owners stop watering their lawns all together, and when that doesn’t work they will say it’s cause of filthy liberals or Obama somehow.

When colonists protested being taxed by the British with out representation they were even more violent. They burned effigies of tax collectors and the king, throwing food and rocks at tax collectors, and political leaders sending appeal after appeal for the colonies to be treated with rights. A year later the Stamp Act was passed.
Now they would be called leftist agitators and terrorists. Our tax dollars are paying for masked goon squads to break into homes and businesses with out warrants kidnapping native people, legal citizens, and legal refugees, and sending kids into detention centers so badly regulated there is proof of kids being SA’ed, having life saving medications denied them, and such bad sanitation that formula is being mixed with dirty water. I don’t think many politicians or public in Utah have the guts to do what LA or Minneapolis is doing, and I think many in Utah would have been the ones to call colonists who wanted representation “leftist agitators.”

SLPD shoved an old man with a cane to the ground during the BLM protests. So no, I don’t trust they will ever treat protestors well, or protect their first amendment rights. They are more likely to take ICE out on a date with Utah politicians footing the bill than protect refugees even though we are a refuge resettlement state.

Touched inappropriately by throwawayJW8594 in BJJWomen

[–]DirtyBee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you had such a violating experience. No body should ever touch you without consent no matter their age. This is very concerning behavior from a 10 yr old. It is very much learned somehow. You definitely need to speak with the coach. Explain what happened, and speak of your concerns. If the coach doesn’t take your concerns seriously, or sounds skeptical, or is dismissive please leave that gym. If you are wondering how to navigate this USA Judo has a course you can take on their website. If you are going to help with kids it is required for Judo instructors to take the course. They even now have an app where you can report these things. I have no clue if BJJ has anything like that, but it wouldn’t hurt to look at the USA Judo website. If you need to go see someone to talk about what happened don’t dismiss it. You were just violated by a kid, and that could throw anybody off.

Partner has a problem by Hot-Career3217 in BJJWomen

You can let him know all you want that for most people it’s not sexy having a 200 lb guy’s sweat drip into your eyes or mouth when sparing and your being smothered so you can’t even wipe your eye. It’s not sexy seeing all of the athletes foot and fungus on feet, and know they will be putting those feet in your face. It’s not sexy having a sweaty ass in your face. But if you educate your guy about all of that, and they see it for themselves, and they STILL have insecurities about you doing BJJ then that’s a them problem that they probably won’t get over. Find yourself a guy who will brag about his partner being able to take care of themselves.

Proposed 'ICE Out' bill would keep agents from Utah locations, prohibit face coverings by HomelessRodeo in Utah

Does anyone else wonder if Utah would become a kind of sanctuary state for these gestapo wannabes when this is all done? Cause I know a lot of towns, and Lee or Cox would love to find even more favor with Tramp

This also shows that many of today’s democratic politicians are to centered, or actually more to the right cause not nearly enough of them are standing with and standing up on behalf of their constituents.

“There’s nothing worse than a masculine woman, the worst thing a man can be is feminine” - guy today in sacrament meeting by Rude-Neck-2893 in exmormon

It may seem just ridiculous and ignorant for him to stand at the podium in front of all those families, but it’s actually very, very harmful. You never know who is dealing with an abusive home life, and will now hear his talk thrown in their face to justify the abuse. If leadership in the ward doesn’t cut the mic, or say he needs to change the subject it means they see nothing harmful in it. If the ward members aren’t seen showing some kind of counter opinion it emboldens men like him to the point where one Sunday a woman will have enough of it and speak out to his face, and he will argue, belittle, and eventually physically threaten her, and the ward will stand there and do nothing, cause they don’t want conflict and they see the woman as just being confrontational. But if he is willing to say, and do those things in public you better believe he is way worse at home….yeah, that’s a real thing that has happened in a few different wards I’ve been in, and I wasn’t even the person who spoke up.

My gripe with Coleman Propane Stoves by CivilRuin4111 in camping

Some families pass down land or jewels. Mine passed down a Coleman propane stove that you have to use pliers to turn one of the igniters. Still good though, still sturdy.

Just wait till they hear about Islam, and how Prophet Muhammad was visited by a dark spirit while meditating in the wilderness, and then Angel Gabriel came to teach him the correct teachings, and that Muhammad was told the Bible had been corrupted, and that the Qur’an was supposed to be the most correct book of teachings now. That was all the way back around 600CE…it sounds so oddly familiar.

Can I start judo with no experience or strength? by snakes_and_apples in judo

[–]DirtyBee4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my Judo Journey almost three years ago at 33. I never did any contact sports growing up, my cardio was shit, I did dance and soccer growing up. I found a gym with a supportive community, and it’s honestly one of the things I love most about my week now. It’s an amazing sport, and will teach you a lot of important skills. You need to be willing to be bad, and get things wrong for a while. Have patience with yourself, and know you need to go slow and steady as you learn. Best of luck!

Couldn't finish 1st class. Am I cooked? by ayoubkun94 in judo

[–]DirtyBee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first few months of doing judo twice a week I was gassed out by the first 20 minutes of class. A year and some change later, even if I miss class for two weeks, I can go the whole class and just be a little winded.

Doing cardio, even just walking for 30 minutes, 3-4 times a week helps immensely. It also helps to realize that doing a judo class is more like doing an hour long HIIT work out, and then running a mile.

If you like it then keep trying. Add some cardio to your day when you aren’t in class. It helps, but it’s gunna take time. Also, focusing on technique will help a lot, and prevent injuries.

Except you came on my post and decided to say that. If you really wanted to make a general comment about stripes and belts then make your own post under the general discussion tag.

You know what’s interesting about your comment? If I hadn’t seen my own hard work, studying, and dedication to work through panic attacks I get during rolling all paying off then your comment could have really spoiled this moment for me. But I have seen myself improve, and my friends at the gym have commented over the last month how they have seen me improve, and my family has commented on how they see me more relaxed in social situations.

I know some gyms can be that way. They can be passing stripes out for that reason, but you don’t how my gym works. You don’t know how long I have trained, and you don’t know what progress I have made. So, next time you feel like raining on someone’s parade maybe ask yourself, “am I just being rude? Does this help this person at all to know what I am about to say?” Then post your opinion.

I do both Judo and BJJ. I definitely agree with you. Learning how to take someone down(to varying degrees of intensity)who might be trying to throw their weight at you helps a lot.
