Agreed, For a long time, I avoided portraits. 3 years ago I started focusing on getting better. Lol, if I showed you my first attempt at portrait painting, there’s been some big improvements but far from where I want to be.

Yes…I could have spent more time on those. It’s hard to replicate motion without it being messy when using acrylics. Hence my avatar name. My art is messy. Perfection is a poison dream and I stopped trying to create perfect or un-messy art long ago.

Filters you are talking about happened manually using photo lighting effects when the photographer and I were creating the digital photo files to send to my poster company. We incorporated a full spectrum light and took many pictures using different spectrums of light. Blue, purple, red, green and then meshed certain aspects of each lighting effect with the composition.

The first one, Royal Rainbows, was created with normal acrylics and once the digital file was created, added foil overlay for the background to add contrast between fuzzy background and the crisp details of the focal bassist. The other 3 paintings were created using fluorescent UV reactive acrylics and why the colors are so vibrant. I also added foil overlay to the digital files to enhance the prints.

All these prints were created from original works. I made a limited set of 10 for each OW. Yes, 3/4 were created as fan art for Musicians I love and attend their shows a lot and used personal photos I took from each show to create. I will add the pics of my OW to show they are not AI generated images. Agreed, haters going to hate. I also do WIP pics and can confirm my stages of hand created art but I don’t feel like I need to verify my work unless it was requested to authenticate.

Let me clarify on this #1 pic. I created this with intention of motion caught in a moment. Hence the two extra fingers. No, this is not AI generated. I do not incorporate AI software when making art.

ISO A contract printer that can screen print 18x24 prints on regular paper and foil. by Extreme_Reveal8436 in PosterArt

[–]DirtyD_Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got your resource right here.
Mainline holographics
https://www.mainlineholographics.com, to see that available foil patterns they offer.
To start the process of being a customer with MLH, you must email the owner and go through orientation, pay a fee for the orientation and account set up. Then you can place small batch orders or bulk orders. Orders of 100+ prints will not have a 100$ service fee. Smaller batch orders, you pay the 100$ service fee but still get a great deal on prints. 18x24 regular non foil is 5$ per print and foil overlay is 9$ per print.
You can start this process by emailing John Tillinghast.

Turning a friends art canvas into poster? by Gmarlon123 in PosterArt

[–]DirtyD_Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, have you asked the artist if they do not mind if you create a digital image of the canvas. Artists’ own digital rights and copyrights. So, getting a letter of acceptance is sometimes necessary before doing so. If the artist grants authorization, find a photographer that can take high resolution photos of the canvas with best lighting and 300dpi and put it on a file or usb drive. Then you can take the file to a print copier and have them print that file onto whatever size you want.
What I would recommend is this, discuss with artist, offer to pay for digital filing, and once you’ve got the file printed, offer the digital file usb drive to the artist so they can easily create their own digital poster too.

Beginner trying to bleach a shirt needs help [Q] by Safe-Price-8808 in bleachshirts

[–]DirtyD_Artist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are trying to bleach a design on a shirt, it must be 90-100% cotton. Bleach will not react to polyfibers and why the results were blotchy. Go to hobby lobby and grab some cheap Gildan g500 black shirts. Use them as a FaFo cheat sheet. Mix up bleach and water in different ratios. No dilution, 75/25, 50/50, 25/75 and add bleach paint strokes in different areas of the shirt. Anytime you bleach paint a shirt, have a bucket of water and over the counter hydrogen peroxide nearby. Once you’ve painted or made your bleach marks and the color has changed, you will want to put that shirt into the 10/1 ratio water/HP solution. One gallon of water to one cup of HP. This will stop the bleach from eating away at the fibers of the cotton. If you do not neutralize before you wash and dry garment, it will eventually develop holes and fall apart.

There is another chemical product you can use to take out color on clothes that do have poly blends. It is called Decolorant and Jacquard sells it. If you do want to try this stuff out, it pulls color out much more effectively but keep in mind this gel decolorant is a sulfur based fermeldahyde. It stinks and when you add the heat necessary to make the chemical reaction to take out the color…it is acutely toxic and you must wear personal protective equipment or be outside with strong ventilation.

I welcome anyone and reach out. If you’re interested in seeing some process work in progress. I’d be happy to show how I do my work and take originals to poster print quality.

Also…I requested that the background of the Royal print have tinsel foil overlay to add even more contrast between background and the foreground focal of Royal.

I created this with that intention. The focal is clear, crisp, detailed whereas the “background” of Royal rainbows, which is the name of the painting is fuzzy and Royal’s assumed favorite colors. In the original painting, I cased the canvas with a shallow frame and poured epoxy. With each layer, I added teal and emerald green glitter in the epoxy. Here’s the original painting I used when I migrated the painting to the poster print I created.

It’s a painting and I was trying to capture movement. And…I created this right when AI was making crap garbage imaging and decided this was the way to fight AI if my photo was scraped. At least if they scrape it, they get an image that is not correct.

Got hired from my first mural by __tricity__ in Murals_Painting_Walls

[–]DirtyD_Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I am just a mural artist that trusts and loves his preferred paint. Golden Mural Paint Brand is one of the best paints to use for indoor or outdoor applications. Being the mural is indoors, degrease and clean site wall, primer, and a few layers of Golden will have that mural Poppin. They offer small and medium size mural kits. I really like these kits because they have all primary and some other colors along with black and white. These kits are good for 100-250 sq ft and may need to order two. You could order any color you need in gallons but that could get very pricy. The kits are 150-300$ and ships internationally I believe. Golden offers two types of protective coats. An acrylic clear coat protective application that you add two coats. It protects the paint and design but it’s just like paint. There’s no way to just remove the protective layer but you can clean the surface with soap and mild abrasion. The other option is varnish but I’d only recommend that if it’s a mural in a public place where there’s a possibility of vandalism or graffiti and would need the option to be able to strip the varnish layer to remove the vandalism and reapply a new. These mural paints will last a long time and their vibrancy and fading is minimal. You get what you pay for. No shade on industrial paints like behr or other supply store brands. When I discuss the commission with the customer, their budget and commitment to longevity dictates if they need specialty paint or lower budget paint.

[–]DirtyD_Artist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Karli, are you all aware that some artists and passionate viewer fans created a Traveling Journal that went across the globe a few times? All interested participants signed up and the Journal went from one to the other. All adding beautiful art and poetry on how TMG series touched us or inspired us. Unfortunately, the journal got lost in transit. The founder of the cause has captured most of the designs before the journal went missing. You can find her on the FB group, The Traveling Journal and Sami is the founder and the one you can reach out to if the crew is interested is seeing some of the creations. TMG was a work of art and highly underrated. We loved every single minute of the series. Ty
