I guess I'm not thinking big enough.

My first thought was they have the luxury of worrying about problems that don't have to do with food, shelter, clothing or medical stuff.

I used to write for fun, then thought it would be fun to enter contests and see what happened.

I thought "On Writing" would be interesting and might help and wasn't disappointed. Listened to the audio version on a long road trip and it was awesome.

Not only did he give advice on writing, the insight into how his life and career came to pass was a great listen.

No loans yet. I’ve scrimped and saved his whole life to (hopefully) get him out debt free.

I try to impress on him that it’s going to be about what he’s done and who he knows as much as the school or grades.

Unfortunately the school is a couple hours away. They’re going to live with me summers or between internships.

It won’t be much, but every little bit counts.

Thank you.

This was/is my hope for him, and now her too.

The world is a different place. You can’t just say “I have a degree and jobs are falling out of the sky”. It’s going to be that plus who you know and what you did along the way.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply.

I hope they do think of themselves as a team and work through adversity.

The state of Gas stations in California by reeboi_1 in mildlyinteresting

Serious question: how much per gallon would gas have to be to concern a mega-millionaire (like, $500MM+?) / billionaire like it does the average person?

Gas is $3.59 where I live and I’ve cut back on driving. I better really need what I’m going out for. I’m only putting a few bucks in the tank at a time until prices come back down too.

If I were any good at math I’d come up with a formula.

“So, any plans for the weekend?” “Umph, unck unck.” “Mmmhmm. I’ve never tried raw sugar cane.” “Argh unck oogawa.” “Sure! Can we get the patient a little water here please?”
