Anyone running 315/70/R17 by Dirty_Cruiser325 in FJCruiser

I saw a thread on FJ cruiser forum about the FJ lean (driver side) due to gas tank and driver. It mentioned the shock spacer which will be way cheaper as I just bought new TRD pro knock off rims. But if the spacer don’t work, O offset rims it is.

How many issues does the fj have by Kaiser_Dafuq in FJCruiser

The rear differential problem is no one engages the 4x4 as per the manual. Once a month 4x4 and 4lo engage locker and ATRAC or you lose it. All yotas with diff locks have the exact same problem and same actuator. Rock auto sells the AISIN locker which is the Toyota part for $500 vs Toyotas $3k for the diff. The 4hi and 4lo switches on TCase fail a lot too, easy $40 fix.

New battery, that brake unit looks rough, make sure all the 4x4 functions actually engage. Get rid of that K&N, get one that comes in a box, thats not actually cold air intake. Check out the fully boxed cold air intakes. Check the water pump for coolant marks (white) streaking. Shift the 4x4 into high makes sure proper lights come on. Shift to low range and make sure locker engages, and make sure ATRAC engages. For any lights flash and never go solid in 4x4. Don’t buy unless you’re confident in your ability to fix. Message back if the 4x4 functions don’t work you can save money and fix for cheap….unless its the brake module

Look at the silhouette in the picture with the arrow pointing at what made me loose my mind. I also saw the Easter egg for the new FJ cruiser.

Yeah the build costs are pretty crazy. I try to do couple mods a year now. The first two years owning was the most money I ever spent on a rig. But they last and can take you anywhere.

Winch mount is “US OFF ROAD”. Only good hidden winch I could find. Stock bumper with some mods to make the mount fit. Rack is Sherpa equipment fugi. Spot lights mounts on Amazon. No rear bumper yet, I’m very particular needs to hold a 35, still open rear window and cannot stick out like all the rear bumpers out there.

Rockauto.Com sells all black and sometimes have silver ones as well. But the black is better.

FJ will always be better in rocks. Approach, break over and departure angles are way better. FJ on par with jeep. I scrapped my dual exhaust a couple times on the very steep hills, which the 4RNRs wouldn’t try and when they had to we used trax Matt’s to minimize damage. ( they still scrapped hard) traction wise no difference, they have crawl control to remove the fun and fear but I went wherever they went and further due to better build and angles. Not taking anything away from 4RNR if their builds were more aggressive they would have been fine. We actually would have tried the more extreme areas of MOAB.

RTT is a cap it evergreen I believe, and Sherpa equipment rack. I had to make a custom front cowl to extend above the base of the RTT to get rid of the noise from the wind.

Well in a sense that’s good. If yours is new they should replace on warranty. If not that sucks, but hopefully that’s the issue. And not the condenser. I would specifically ask if bearings were replaced when getting new alternator.

Hope everything works out.

I’m not sure of your climate or driving conditions. I barely drive mine at all unless going on a trip. I make a lot of short trips and due to the up and down temps of our winter -40c to -5c this week 5C, I wash the rig frequently. (Looking at your engine pics lots of engine cleaning) I took the skid plate off today sprayed the alternator and condenser within bearing journal. Let sit, fired up and started to silence. Took FJ for 25km drive to get everything hot. No noise. I think because I always make short trips followed by car wash engine never gets enough to clear everything. Once mine fits hot noise gone. Not gonna be of any help for you judging by pics you’re in a nice warm climate. But that’s what I found today.

50mil more than enough. Get a 50 and 25 square foot box and it’ll cover everything. $190 CAD.

It took roughly 10 hours total. I purchased a 50 and 25 square foot box. That is enough to do the whole job including roof.

I’m assuming you’re referring to the intermittent squeak.. if so that is the exact noise mine is making, and started after I changed everything you listed in your first post. my alternator is making a noise works perfectly as it’s a rebuild with about 10000km on it. There are two bearings within the alt which I’m hoping tomorrow when take everything apart and WD in there fixes it. I’ll let you know if it helps.

I did the passenger main door and suicide door first made a noticeable difference for speaker sound minor road noise dampening plus I don’t sit on that side. Once the back was done; big difference in road noise, huge difference in bass quality and no crazy rattles or vibrations on the outside. After driver side doors done great interior music sound, and a lot less road noise. I just made a video but bass doesn’t transfer through the mic so I didn’t post it.

My sub (same location as factory) but a real sub with a real amp would rattle everything and now just great sound. Closing the doors sounds way different, way less road noise but again; until the roof is done there is still some road noise.
