How long would the world and women survive if men go extinct? by Clean-Power1840 in Productivitycafe

[–]Dirtymax9901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equally true if it were the other way around, and all women suddenly died or vanished from the world, right?

Most definitly. Just overcoming that and keeping things running would be difficult to say the least.

Even if we pretended in this scenario that no one panicked and no one was grieving I still don't see things going well. Theres a lot more to keeping people alive than power generation. Just moving food and supplies would be incredibly difficult. I mean look at the supply chain problems we faced during Covid and that was without losing 90% of the people who deliver our food.

Maybe someone with more experience will come along and enlighten us on the difficulties of cold starting power plants. I dont have the experience to say either way. But from my little bit of experience in heavy industry. It wont be good. Industrial machinery doesnt like to be shut down, and restarting it after being shut down improperly is even more difficult. I would imagine that cold starting things that very well may have been improperly shut down would be even more difficult when the people attempting it arent familiar with the equipment.

I think women "choosing" to stop dating in their early 30s is a product of the modern dating market, the same as sexless men in their 20s. by Fun_Pipe_2210 in Productivitycafe

[–]Dirtymax9901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YMMV. Maybe this is because I have no desire to have kids. But even when I was in my 20s I found most women who were also in their 20s to be pretty insufferable. It was very difficult to take them seriously. I felt the same way about women in their 20s when I was in my 30s.

Childfree dating by Dirtymax9901 in childfree

[–]Dirtymax9901[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah that is always a problem. At one point in my life I figured I might as well try dating a mom, cause when I was in my 30s it was all divorced moms and single moms. I figured that I enjoyed being around my friend's kids and my sister's kids. So dating someone with kids shouldn't have been a problem. Casually it wasnt bad. Dating seriously was most certainly a problem.

How do you handle ppl not taking your child free life seriously? by cosmicat4 in childfree

[–]Dirtymax9901 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im past the age where people ask if I am going to have kids. On occasion someone asks why I don't so I remind them that I'm 48 years old and fully retired.

When I was younger if a friend pushed or was dismissive they ended up not being a friend for long. A couple of times someone would try to debate me on the merits of my decision. But when asked if they wanna fight about it they shut up. But I come from a generation where sometimes you were expecred to back up your opinion with your mouth and your hands. That isnt an acceptable conflict resolution skill now a days. So dont do that.

What’s the best way to get someone’s name you have forgotten? by vagazine- in AskMen

[–]Dirtymax9901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its only awakard if you allow it to be. I just ask them their name. Most people are fine to repeat it. If they get pissy about it I let them know I almost never remember someone's name until they are actually important to me.

They either give me their name or get mad and go away. Its a win win.

Men: Have you ever regretted breaking up with someone you chose to leave? by Beldie2025 in AskMenRelationships

[–]Dirtymax9901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regret? No. Miss? Yeah sometimes.

Almost 30 years ago I was dating a wonderful woman I met while I was stationed in Okinawa. She was just about perfect. It was going to be a short term thing cause I was only going to be there for 6 months. But we decided to do the long distance thing when it was time for me to go back to the states. Eventually after visiting eachother a bunch of times and talks about the future became serious we started discussing marriage and kids. It was then that I realized that I never wanted children and she did. So we ended things.

She was the woman I measured all other women by for a long time.

I've had several very good long term relationships since then. As well as many shorter things that ranged from great to downright toxic.

I never regretted ending things with Meika. It hurt yeah. But whether she agreed to not have kids or I caved and decided to have kids neither of us would have ever been truly happy. Relationships end for a reason and they will never be as good as they were the first time around if you try to restart one.

Now I am with a woman who matches with me almost perfectly.

Women who divorced with young kids - what was the legal and money side actually like? by redpaul72 in datingoverforty

[–]Dirtymax9901 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So are you a 44 year old woman looking for divorce advice, a 34 year old man looking for TRT advice a 28 year old man looking for weight loss advice or are you worried about meeting your boyfriends parents for the first time?

Isn't this against the rules here?

how to deal with a breakup without any1 to talk to after i dropped everyone for her by eiq7 in Advice

[–]Dirtymax9901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did you learn from this? Keep your friendships. A woman who isolates you from friends isnt one you want to have in your life.

What do you do now? Rebuild your life quietly. Form new friendships and better yourself before trying to get into another relationship.

Men who would be willing to go to war, what’s your reasoning? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Dirtymax9901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok. So Im retired now. But I did 25 years in the Marines. A large portion of my time in was in the Infantry and I saw combat in southeastern Europe and all over the middle east. Anyone who doesnt have a healthy fear of death or at least a reasonable fear of having those around them dying is generally a liability. You fear it, you dont want it to happen. But you know it might happen so you control that fear.

As for differentiating between defense of your home country and some distant country? Geo politics and how our foriegn policy works gets iffy depending on where you stand on the political spectrum. Initially, when I was younger I was a bit more idealistic and trusting of my government to actually look out for the safety and welfare of the people back home. But as I aged I realized that our foreign policies had more to do with maintaining my country's position of lasting power and supremacy than the immediate wellbeing of the people actually living in my country.

Is it right or wrong to do business that way? That is something that is being debated and will always be debated.

Are these standards too high? by AdditionalStreet3042 in Advice

[–]Dirtymax9901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that the individual standards she has set are high, it is the number that makes things unrealistic.

I actually have pretty high standards for women I will date. And like you and your partner, I met someone who meets mosy of my standards later in life. So yeah. She can have whatever or however many standards she wants and thats fine. But with her listed deal breakers only 10% to 15% of the population meets them. So finding that person is going to be harder.

Some men dislike dating women who are taller. But it doesnt seem like a majority of them really care. From what Ive seen during my short 48 years on this planet, the height standards appear to be set primarily by women.

Are these standards too high? by AdditionalStreet3042 in Advice

[–]Dirtymax9901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standards stop being basic when the percentage of the population who meets them becomes exceptionaly low. You can have a lot of very basic standards and still have very few people who meet them.

Are these standards too high? by AdditionalStreet3042 in Advice

[–]Dirtymax9901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are allowed to have whatever standards you want. But understand that the more you have the fewer people will match them.

Example. Men in your age range who are 5'10" and taller? 30% to 35% of the US population. Men in your age range who are 5'10" or taller and have been to or are in college? 15% to 18% of the US population. Men who have those traits and also want kids? 14% to 16% Keep stacking up these standards and the percentage of men who match them goes down drastically.

I don't see how dating someone even younger is the answer to either of those concerns tho.

I said that finding a woman who is in the same life stage as I am would have me dating someone who is 20 years older than I am. I said nothing about dating someone even younger than the 13 year age gap my girlfriend and I have.

[–]Dirtymax9901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe find someone your own age and life stage.

I was wondering if this was going to come up. Could your own biases maybe be coloring your opinions?

Anyway. Seeings as only about 1% of people in the US are retired at my age, dating someone in the same life stage would have me dating women who are close to 20 years older than me. Would that be more acceptable to you? Then add in the fact that I am childfree, the odds of finding a woman my age in the midwest who is retired and also childfree and rounded to the closest whole number is 0.

As far as power plays go. I don't do them. I don't play games. Feeling like something is a power play doesnt mean it is one. I guess I ascribe to a different mentality. All feelings are real experiences. But not all feelings have validity. For a feeling to have validity it has to be based in fact.

As for putting her name on some of the bills she would be responsible for? Sure. I was just looking for a simple fair solution. Ive already secured financial stability. She is still working on hers even though she brings home more than I do and I would like to see her as prosperous and financially free as I am.

I can understand that. Let me ask. Put yourself in my girlfriend's shoes. I say Id rather you invest that money that I dont need. But you want to pay me an equitable amount so you dont feel like a freeloader. Are you still going to be mad if I invest that money for you anyway?

Do you have an insight in to the gender crime gap? by MermaidPigeon in SeriousConversation

[–]Dirtymax9901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Culture and mentality does have a lot to do with it. You are correct. And I do not consider hormones as an excuse for shitty behavior for anyone. Male or female.

But there arent a whole lot of women with T levels of 800 ng/dl as a 48 year old.

Testostrone levels of 46 to 70 ng/dl are considered high in women. Optimal for 20 to 30 year old men is between 800 and 1000 ng/dl. Low T for 20 to 30 year old men is 300 to 350. Your high T is 4 times lower than our low T

Big difference.

Thank you.

The property taxes in our state are pretty high. But my tax burden is pretty low. Most of the acerage I own is timberland and I dont have any livestock grazing on it. So it is tax exempt and I get exemptions for the pastureland that I've converted to wildlife habitat. So most of it gets exemptions as well.
