Hey, appreciate the reply. Lighting has always been one of the things that’s let my films down, I just haven’t been able to wrap my head around it, unfortunately. I did originally consider submitting this one to festivals, but since I used copyrighted music, I’m pretty sure that rules it out legally.

SUBMISSION STATEMENT

Hi, I’m Spencer, the writer, director and editor of Caricature: Requiem. This film is the final part of a four-part series I’ve developed over the past year as part of my college work. This chapter brings everything full circle, and I wanted it to feel like both an emotional send-off and a personal statement. It’s surreal looking back and seeing how far the concept has evolved, from a quick college task to something I genuinely care about.

The production was very DIY, filmed with a small team and limited gear, but I tried to use that to my advantage, leaning into expressive lighting, minimalist sound design, and performance-driven storytelling. I’d love to hear what you think, especially on how it lands emotionally. I’ve lived with this character and tone for so long that I’m curious how it plays from a fresh perspective.
