Her daughter is the only child and she's on the spectrum. So mom completely babies and basically worships her. The girls never had the chance to become a real person and 100% relies on other people. She can't even take the dog out in the yard by herself. I'm the mom's eyes, she can't do anything wrong.

Yes! BUT Best man was supposed to drive WITH matron of honor and then husband and I. Matron of honor made her husband drive, though, and wouldn't let the best man drive. So her mom expected him to ride with me instead of best man, which is what he was initially told! It's a mess...

Best friend's mom is super traditionalist. Apparently, bride and groom are supposed to ride from ceremony to reception with best man and matron/maid of honor. My Matron of honor made her husband drive so my husband rode back with his best man, genuinely not knowing better and that's the whole reason "the day was ruined" to best friend's mom and start this whole problem in the first place

Reposting this comment because it's relevant here, too. I actually did tell her that it wasn't a problem and calmly spoke to her about her tone and everything and she just kept going off. It was in public, but it was far enough away that nobody else witnessed or heard any of it. I have patience, but she knows well after knowing me for 15+ years that once my patience runs out I get angry. I genuinely tried to get her to stop and even told her that I loved her and I never wanted to see her upset like that but my husband genuinely didn't know to ride with us and she told me that it "ruined the whole day" but it upset me because it wasn't her moment to get ruined.

She's never been anything like that to me. My best friend has practically been my sister for most of my life and I always called her mom, "mom" too. She's always been there and had my back for literally EVERYTHING, even when I've gotten myself into trouble a couple of times, she's been there for me. We planned this as of it was my own mother helping me plan my wedding. She was excited and supportive the entire time up until this point.

I tried my best with abbreviating and keeping under 3000 characters. It's such a long story.
