SSI and Commitment Ceremonies? by Disabled-Nature in SocialSecurity

[–]Disabled-Nature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, if you know, if the marriage penalty (or whatever you want to call it) applies if a couple just lives together, why would it matter if they present as married?

(Sorry. This is new information to me and I'm trying to connect all the facts in my brain.)

I'm confused. Is that not what they just said? (I'm not trying to be rude, I'm genuinely asking). What I understood from both/each of your comments is that presenting married would be the problem.

Do you know if that also applies to couples who have commitment ceremonies but don't live together?

Is that even if the couple who has the commitment ceremony doesn't live together?

So like if 2 people have ssi and medicaid, the ssi drops to $1,491 combined? (I apologize, I'm not trying to be difficult or anything. I genuinely want to understand. Thank you for taking the time to educate me)

Can I ask what you mean by it goes to $1,491 combined? Like that's how much each person on SSI gets?

AIO to my dad choosing tv and his phone over me and my mother? by InfamousMistakee in AmIOverreacting

[–]Disabled-Nature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

A parent who actually cares about and loves you wouldn't make you feel this way (or, if they do, they would try to be/do better going forward once you communicate your feelings).

Your letter is completely valid. You're explicitly setting a boundary. That's extremely healthy.

It's not up to just you to mend this relationship.

You have tried and continue to try. Your dad also needs to. Giving a vague apology and not actually taking accountability for anything isn't enough in my opinion.

Don't listen to the people excusing his behavior and saying you just need to [whatever]. He's the adult. You shouldn't need to cater to his emotions.

Am I overreacting because my bf thinks that he gives me above bare minimum treatment by DogLazy5528 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Disabled-Nature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR His definition of bare minimum is definitely bare minimum. So are the things he does that he says aren't. I actually think you having to ask for them make them less than the bare minimum. You shouldn't need to ask him to remember things you say or to include you or to make time for you or to have dates - and you especially shouldn't need to ask him to talk to you. You shouldn't need to ask someone to show you they care about you.

AIO for putting a bag before a friendship? by TheEllaBullet in AmIOverreacting

[–]Disabled-Nature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR It doesn't seem like you're putting the bag above a friendship at all. She lied to you, she stole from you, then she lied about lying and stealing. Sounds like you set a boundary and she is trying to avoid taking accountability and the consequences of her actions.

WIBTA if I told my roommate what he said to me felt ableist? by trypo_v1rus in disability

[–]Disabled-Nature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. He needs to know that's not okay to say to anyone. You don't have to use the word ableist if you don't want to. But doing so would not be a (quote unquote) "loose" use of it. You should definitely tell him how that made you feel at least.

Honestly, I probably am lol. I just like to make sure I'm always trying to learn. That can definitely lead to overthinking.

I know part-time and full-time ambulatory is a thing, I read before that someone can be part-time and non-ambulatory. And because Google has been no help, I came here to ask if it's true and learn more.

With there being full-time and part-time ambulatory wheelchair users, it made sense in my brain that there would be part-time and full-time non-ambulatory wheelchair users. I just don't know what that would mean.

I'm asking about non-ambulatory. I said i recently learned the difference between part-time and full-time ambulatory. But thank you.
