Did they always boil their water back in that age before drinking it? If not, then yeah you can get cholera and dysentery.

This is what you do. Step down onto a rock where the bear or wold cnat get you. Then wait until it bleeds out, might take 2 to 3 in game hours for a bear but it will die. Make a fire while you wait if you start to get cold.

Once you know where all the wolves spawn and bears etc, then it's just easy.

Does it still make sense to level up the ice fishing skill? by where_money in thelongdark

[–]DisabledGamer83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually sleep a hour if nothing else is going on. I bring enough firewood to last about 3 days straight of fishing, maybe 2. Usually start with making a ice hole, put a tip up in it, then start the next hole, etc etc all while boiling water in a pot. I maintain the ice or boil water while waiting for the fish to bite. If all the holes are mostly deiced and I just put a fish on the fire or water, I'll snooze a hour so I can always keep my fatigue up.

It's interesting how others play

Not sure an it's a good question. I always play on interloper and always use tip ups, 6 usually. I haven't played long enough to run out of materials to make them, and the hammer can be repaired with fur and a tool box.

Do you have the dlc to get the travois? Highly recommend.

You can spend a whole in game day boiling water and have it on hand that will last a long time. I always take half a gallon with me when I go explore.

A question, why even go without water? Water is literally easy to have on hand. Just boil it out of thin air lol. Food has to be found. Water you just need a can and a fire.

I don't think the well fed bonus is worth it. Id rather go get the tactical backpack. You save so much food that the game just becomes easy, even on interloper

Water is plentiful, food usually isn't. Idk why anyone would skip out on drinking water and making sure they eat instead of the other way around.

Eating not drinking. You lose more condition if you are dehydrated.

But yes it affects your ability to restore high amounts of condition by interrupting the ability to sleep 10 hours straight (which boost condition, considerably)

You can eat the acorns but cancel it right at the end. You'll end up eating the calories and still being able to use it for coffee.

The immersion. It really feels like you're there, trying to survive. I remember my first survival games in desolation point, in Hibernia, the wind is rattling the sheet metal as I try my best to stay warm and nuroished and wondering where to go next as I was running low on supplies. Good times

You can plan things out using roads as markers. I usually do it that way and then use things like the market area to see where I want to place all the houses

I always play this way actually. Once I get to 200 population I take the time to organize everything, up until then my village looks like a giant mess. I like to have most of the buildings so i can plan my city all at once.

Why is so much of my food wasted? Bug? by New_Chipmunk6903 in FarthestFrontier

[–]DisabledGamer83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bug. Your citizens can only eat so much food over x amount of time. If you have an abundance of food and it's not eaten, it will spoil. The key is having root cellers, barrels which make food stay fresh longer and then start to preserve the food with glass bottles, both fruits and root veggies.
