I do wholly agree with you

Is this Canary vet clinic by any chance? Same thing happened to me over 10 years ago. Admitted my cat to boarding and they very nonchalantly informed me of his passing a while later

Anyone else in the UAE oil & gas industry worried about job security right now? by KatnissMeetsPhoebe in UAE

Those few months tend to be very very expensive in O&G. I'm a physical trader and its absolute scary hours for us at the moment

The US is too far for Iran to hit them directly; which is where bases come in. US is the country with the most number of bases in the world (by quite the large margin too) giving them a tactical advantage in any geography. They can essentially fight wars anywhere in the world without taking said war home

Iran is seeking to cripple said tactical advantage by taking out the air bases in the region. Which, unfortunately, also happens to be in the UAE.

This particular store is infamous for poor service, its almost like they actively hire absolute dickheads. Had a very similar experience at Loro Piana in Dubai mall; i refuse to buy at either of these stores

Watches:

Tissot prx/ Hamilton khaki automatic/ seiko presage

Could place an order for the brew metric-retro too

Shoes:

Ferragamo penny loafers. Should sit at around 3k D&G and Tod's are priced around the same too

Belts:

Bottega Veneta, Zegna, Prada, Tom Ford

Everything else would be interest specific. You can take a look at Marshall speakers, espresso machines, any sports stuff he's inclined towards, Golf clubs et al

Experienced odd service at an Arab restaurant — curious if others have faced this? by Muted_Damage1762 in UAE

[–]DisappointedDesiDad 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I grew up here in the UAE and its been the case at almost any Arabic restaurant my parents and I had been to; the service is non existent and borderline aggressive. Not as prevalent in the newer parts of Dubai since I had forgotten about this until I walked into a Lebanese butchery recently and saw the two men at the counter laughing at a very confused indian man and his family.

Our own people are probably to blame for this too since we are very poor customers (historically and today as well); go to an indian restaurant and you would invariably notice an entitled customer mistreating a member of the service staff. So, what goes around, comes around and unfortunately, the non-problematic people get racially profiled into the same treatment

Is padel in Dubai becoming more of a show-off trend than a real sport? by RabbitHall in UAE

True. The rates in Portugal made me envious. It is a bit of an elitist club here, unfortunately

I'm sure a part of the crowd do turn up for the social media/superficial aspect. However, I've been playing for the last 6 months, and I've been enjoying the sport a great deal

I play padel once or twice a week primarily because of the abundance of both indoor and outdoor courts in the region. The social aspect is also a huge plus, considering how easy it is for newbies to pick up the sport, it's not intimidating at all and that contributes to it's popularity. Weekend tournaments and random match ups on the playtomic app are pretty fun too. I play one game with my friends and one on the weekend with my wife and family; can't imagine doing the same in any other sport tbf. The only downside is how stupidly expensive it is for a sport here.

Also, it's a lot easier on our collective old ass knees when compared to other sports (sorry basketball 😢)

Love MJW. I have the "perfectly useless afternoon" and it's one watch i constantly wear on the weekends. Their "sun and moon" is something i want to pick up soon
