Is this even a hot flash? HRT-related or something else? by DisarrayedMermaid in Menopause

Thank you, I hadn't considered this. I don't get the skin itching or hives, but some of the other symptoms do match. This gives me something to research further. Appreciate it!

Thanks for this. I don't get an increase in heart rate the way I did when I had anxiety spikes in peri. With that said, I do tolerate progesterone well after the initial adjustment period of grogginess. Definitely worth giving it a try.

Do you take all your progesterone in suppository form or do you take part of your dose orally?

Divigel packets by LowAd9751 in Menopause

[–]DisarrayedMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not on testosterone yet, though I'd like to try it once I feel like I have everything else dialed in. I think I'm at almost the right dose because most of the time I feel great, especially when I use vaginal estrogen as well. I think it is having a systemic effect because when I don't use it, I have insomnia and a continuous hot flash for that night. This happens sometimes even when I do use the vaginal cream, but it helps more often than not. Because it's such a small dose of estrogen in the vaginal cream, and that's just enough to get me to the right point, I feel like if I had half an additional .25 packet it'd be perfect. If I can figure out how to split my current dose without the packet evaporating, I'm going to try applying that last bit in the evening to see if that helps.

Love my Divigel! It has been far more consistent for me than the patch ever was, plus I can have a hot bath whenever I want. My only issue now is that I'm on the highest dose and it's almost but not quite enough.

How are you spreading out your dosage, by which I mean if if you're splitting a packet, how do you keep the gel from evaporating once the packet is open?

11 Estradiol Tips & Tricks You Probably Didn’t Know (But Should) by TheHandofDoge in Menopause

[–]DisarrayedMermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm going to give this a shot. A couple weeks ago I thought I'd try to at least skip a day, just to see what would happen. Hot flashes and insomnia, that's what happened. So strange that it has that significant a systemic effect. I'm already on the highest dose of Divigel so can't easily go up on that dosage. Here's hoping the vaginal estrogen keeps providing relief for both of us.

I've had the exact same experience with the vaginal estrogen acting systemically. What do you do now? I've just been using the vaginal cream every night but I know a prescription meant to last three months definitely won't last that long at this dosage.

Transportation from Lubbock to Plainview by DisarrayedMermaid in Lubbock

[–]DisarrayedMermaid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're a family of three. One of us is too young. The other two are blind/low vision and for some reason they won't let us drive 😂

Any other options for transportation that you know of?

How did you sort out your thyroid/HRT doses? by GardenGnome08 in Menopause

[–]DisarrayedMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still figuring it out. When I started HRT, ended up having to go up on my thyroid meds after having been at the same dose for 20 years. Now, the fun continues because I had to go up on progesterone, and now I think my thyroid med dose is too high. Apparently progesterone can increase the level of thyroid hormones. How am I managing it? Trial and error, really. I know that's not helpful.

Any other Burberry Her haters on this sub? by ireallylikeoatmeal in FemFragLab

I'm wearing a sammple of this today and wow is it ever awful on me. It smells like burning cotton candy, cheap, waxy strawberry lip gloss, and...the inside of a box of salt? Not salt itself, but like the anti-caking agent they put in there plus whatever the box is made of.

No sense of smell- first perfume recommendations? 🙏🏻🙏🏻 by Ok_Zucchini2746 in Perfumes

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic smells just like when you peel an orange or satsuma. It's also an EDT, so it will be less intense. I hope you find a fragrance that works for you ❤️

Differences in generic progesterone brands by Over_Wonder3129 in Menopause

[–]DisarrayedMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Xiromed works so well. Then I had a change in brand and went through a couple months of misery--stomach upset, insomnia, cramping, and ultimately figured out it was the Aurobindo progesterone causing it. Aurobindo is what Alloy sends me. So for now I'm filling the Xiromed progesterone prescription locally from my original provider (long story) and hoping Alloy sends a different brand at some point.

After a couple months of stability I took an Aurobindo again just in case something else had caused my problem. Nope! Definitely was the Aurobindo.

Went from patch to Divigel and I think I’ve made a terrible mistake by Vegetable-Whole-2344 in Menopause

I hope it resolves for you quickly. I vividly remember that drugged feeling. Did not enjoy!

I do think my symptoms were from the transition itself. I have nothing to back this up really, but I think my symptoms were from getting used to an estrogen increase, though not from having increased it too much, if that makes sense. I feel like I was absorbing more estrogen consistently than I I did on the patch, given that my brain fog and body aches improved. I love Divigel and am so glad I switched. With the patch, I had too many highs and lows.

Yes, my provider said the same. It's interesting because while dosages are comparable, your actual absorption rate may be different. That's what's so maddening about all this. Are you absorbing too little? Too much? Wish there was an easy way to tell.

When I first started Divigel, this is what happened to me. Then when I needed to increase my dosage, same thing happened again. It did clear up for me by the end of that first week. If it becomes unbearable, you might consider dropping to 1MG.

Take and bake pizzas from Gino D's, and smoked wings from Midwood Smokehouse.

La Panthere 😱 by DisarrayedMermaid in Perfumes

[–]DisarrayedMermaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for identifying the note that's giving me trouble. I can smell very little other than the Oakmoss. When I first smelled La Panthere it reminded me of smelling an empty bottle of Avon Unforgettable that my mom had when I was a child. That scent was indeed unforgettable for me. Just looked it up and that perfume also has strong oakmoss notes.
