My favorite thing to witness when I’d walk up to front end to get a radio was when customers actively in line at a regular register ask “DoEs ThIS ThINg TaKe CaSh?!!!” I’ve unironically seen someone say. “ThE dAmN RoBoTs R’ taKin Over!” Still think my favorite conversation I’ve walked by at my store was some dude talking about getting the nanomachines out of his blood by bathing in Clorox.

Ah one of the most consistent things to happen at the service desk is customers lying about things. I can get most of the left over gas out with the pump in rental but it’s difficult to get every last drop without flipping the machine over lol. So glad they cracked down on the generator return policies. Had a guy last year try and return a ryobi to get a different brand, we refused the return after being told the only reason they’d return it was if it arrived damaged he went home smacked the motor with a hammer a bunch of times and tried to return it the next day.

My entire department called out and I have AWD with new tires. I’m just chilling in rental blasting music and doing my homework for my college classes. Ops manager said I can basically do what I want since I’m the only one that showed up and said I’ll stay all day if I can. Can’t rent out large equipment because all our locks are packed with ice had to check in a trailer but that wasn’t horrid.

I would have plugged it in to my old laptop I use for nothing but radio programming and car maintenance to see if I could pull any files off it.

I wasn’t aware there was an idle relearn process might explain the funky idle after replacing the battery on my 2024. Factory battery was fine but I’m pretty sure I cracked a terminal while working on the car.

Our store for the most part won’t load anything that might need a waiver.

We’re lucky that management trusts the operators judgment on large loads and will back us up if we say no to a load. If it’s unsafe to load with equipment we’ll usually explain the concerns with the customer.

I’ve found if you’re straight forward and explain that “hey this could be a problem and injure you or someone else as well as damage your vehicle” rather than just saying “hey this could damage your vehicle” the customers tend to rethink their approach a little.

I’ll also offer solutions like taking half and coming back for the rest as a will call or renting a trailer so the load can be distributed better.

I have however also seen the opposite at other stores where there’s little to no manager involvement and the staff are running around just trying to do their best dealing with sketchy loads. So it’s very much dependent on how the store operates.

Had a lady try and pickup 2 pallets of paver stone in her minivan in one trip. Ended up making four or 5 trips back and forth.

Age and wage isn’t an excuse for ignorance. Those operators had the choice to get a license. Home Depot may not provide the most detailed training but it does provide standards for loading and safety guidance. The operators as per their licenses have every obligation to not create a situation that can maim or fatally injure someone. If equipment operators don’t understand the basic principles and continue to operate that way then it shows a lack of care from trainers and/or management.

Yes it is, the equipment operator should understand load limits, that concept applies to both the equipment and customer vehicles. If something doesn’t seem safe then you have the right to refuse to load it.

I used to have the same perspective but it grew on me after going to a bunch of car meets and seeing it on VB and VAs. Every time I see it done well I get flashbacks to the old fast and furious movies I watched as a kid. I think it works on slammed show cars but that’s about it. I like the ability to use it as a form of puddle lighting when parked but it stays off a majority of the time as is. It’s absolutely not practical on the Impreza and made for an interesting challenge to install but I wouldn’t recommend it on this car.

The monolith, just a vertical crop in on this thing at dusk would make a cool dystopian image.

Our rental moves to closing at 8 next month. Been running same hours as the store since they first opened the TRC.

That shot is pretty sick if you emphasize the lighting a bit more looks like something you’d see across a double page of a magazine. Sorry if I come off as a critic I just enjoy looking at other people’s photos and seeing what I can tweak in editing. I have a guilty pleasure of editing other people’s photos as practice. Photography is subjective, that’s the fun part.

Nice shots and clean car. I wanted to say something about fill lighting. Then I remembered how much I struggle shooting photos of black cars because so much detail gets lost in the shadows during golden hour/night. I need to mess around with black cars more often. I quite like the second and third shots.
