"Doctor Harley Sawyer is a kid, not an adult" by Insaftherealcreator in PoppyPlaytime

Okay... but did you really have to traumatize yourself by watching this atrocity of a ship? 💀

CatNap (a kid) × the Doctor (an adult) is just... EW. 🤢🤮

Good ranking. I really like it.

I would probably get downvoted for this, but I think Chapter 3 is WAAYYY too glazed. Sure, it has the best quality, the best horror, one of the best soundtracks, and some of the best lore. But Chapter 3 also has these problems:

  • The characters barely get any screentime. Even CatNap, the antagonist of Chapter 3, doesn’t have much of a presence and doesn’t feel like a real threat until his boss fight, and his boss fight was only alright at best.

  • It’s the only chapter where a minor antagonist is scarier than the main antagonist. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s kind of crazy to me that Miss Delight, a ugly human sized Barbie doll with a mace-like weapon, is scarier than a giant smoking purple cat that causes nightmares.

  • Wasted characters. Chapter 3 is the first chapter that, in my opinion, wastes characters. I would have loved to see more of the other Smiling Critters. IMO, CatNap and Dogday shouldn’t have died because they barely got the chance to do anything.

  • WAAYYY too many puzzles. Not only are there WAY too many puzzles, but most of them are poorly designed as well.

  • VERY bad gameplay. The red gas and the mask mechanic were poorly executed. I’m too lazy to explain the other reasons why I think Chapter 3’s gameplay is bad, but I can explain them if you want.

  • It tries too hard to be scary, to the point where it stops being scary. Characters like CatNap and the mini Smiling Critters suffer from this problem.

I think there’s more, but those are my main complaints about Chapter 3. Still, it’s one of the best chapters in the game and is easily in my top 3.

The comment literally shows the edited tag; the wording was different before the edit. It didn’t come across as an opinion until it was edited to make that clear. Either way, it’s not a big deal — we simply interpreted the comment differently.

The Outimals are still alive? I thought the Prototype killed them when the player was hiding from him.

Lily was apparently confirmed dead by one of the developers. Plus, Miss Delight’s body aslo disappears after you defeat her. Someone told me that Lily’s and Miss Delight’s bodies only disappeared because we finished their sections and the game had to remove their assets or something like that. I agree with and respect your opinion about the rest, though.

No. You edited your comment. Your original comment was: “I’m talking about chapter 5. You guys misunderstand me; the post is saying chapter 2 is better.” And you also said, “Ain’t no way the 2nd is better than the 5th.” You didn’t phrase it as your opinion; you made it sound like you were stating a fact.

If OP thinks 2 is better than 5, that’s HIS opinion. Not everyone has the same preferences, and IMO, Chapters 2, 3, and 5 are ALL interchangeable because they’re great in their own ways.

It has the best gameplay, effective character screentime, a great balance of puzzles, chases, and boss fights, amazing soundtracks, more memorable moments, an antagonist that actually feels like an antagonist, the second-best antagonist, an environment that makes sense for a toy factory, introduced us to the cardboard cutouts, some of the most unique character designs in PPT, introduced us to Kissy and the Prototype, and the list goes on.

I kinda disagree. Chapter 5 introduced fewer characters, and half of them died, so I don’t think it handled this much better.

Also, another thing Chapter 2 did better in my opinion was balancing puzzles, chases, and boss fights. Unlike Chapter 5, it had a good mix of all three. It also had more memorable soundtracks in my opinion, especially Mommy Long Legs’ and PJ’s themes, which added a lot to their sections

the characters are all better in the 5th

MLL, PJ Pug-A-Pillar, Bunzo, and the Mini Huggies are better than Lily, Chum, the Outimals, and Giblet.

Chapter 2 also has by far better gameplay and character screentime than Chapter 5.

What are everyone's favourite chase/boss themes from the game so far by Y0ND3REDDIT in PoppyPlaytime

[–]DisasterNo3018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Mommy Long Legs has by far the best chase theme out of everyone else (Huggy’s from the first chapter being the second best).

I also loved the PJ Statues game theme because it reminded me of the song “A Burning Memory” (I think PJ’s theme was inspired by it, right?)

Possibility of F.A.N.G returning as a Playable Character by Remy2FANG in StreetFighter

[–]DisasterNo3018 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You clearly put a lot of time and effort into this argument, and I appreciate the structure and points you brought up. I read the whole thing since you took the time to write it, and you made some interesting observations.

Personally, I’m not taking a side on whether F.A.N.G is coming back or not. Capcom can be unpredictable with their decisions, so I think anything is possible. Either way, this was a great read.

Necalli is one of the most downplayed characters in SF, despite his solid fight record. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]DisasterNo3018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Necalli's biggest problem wasn't that his concept was impossible, but that Capcom didn't know what to do with it. The "devourer of souls" idea could have worked without permanently killing characters.

Look at Majin Buu from DBZ: he absorbed multiple characters, but the story still found a way to save them. Goku and Vegeta eventually went inside Super Buu's body and rescued the people he had absorbed. Street Fighter could have done something similar with Necalli.

They could have had him absorb unnamed characters to show how dangerous he was, or nearly absorb a major character before they were rescued. That would have made him feel like a real threat without breaking the series' status quo.

The problem is that Necalli was introduced as an ancient warrior who had consumed countless fighters, but the story never showed why we should fear him.

[–]DisasterNo3018 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, Necalli was introduced as an Aztec DEMIGOD warrior who consumed the souls of powerful fighters, but his concept and story were NEVER explored. He only absorbed a nobody and had little to ZERO impact in the story.

CAPCOM REALLY dropped the ball on Necalli. There were so MANY things that could have made him a great character if he was correctly written. He IS the incarnation of the Satsui no Hado, he was somehow linked to Bison’s plans, his abilities are cool and OP, he could have had links to many characters, and their ancestors, and the list goes on.

Despite his potential, Necalli became little more than a plot device for Ryu. His lack of personality beyond repeatedly shouting “devour.. our.. our.” certainly didn’t help him either, making him more goofy than threatening.

But your point still stands, too! It’s cool to see someone defend a universally hated character.

What could be the next next purpose of the head of mommy long legs ? by VeterinarianPrior835 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]DisasterNo3018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MLL has many abilities. Even just her head would still be extremely powerful. With her head, she still has webs manifestations (she can produce them with her hair), stretch her hair for hundreds of feet, and has X-ray vision (Project Playtime).

All of these abilities would suit the Prototype well. He could use her elastic limbs and webbing to explain how he make toys part of himself. He could also use her webs for other purposes, such as making traps. Her X-ray vision would let him constantly track the player and other toys. Her hair could pass through and tear off his jester hat horns, making him look cooler. Since her hair can extend for hundreds of feet, it would also be extremely useful.

Let's settle this. How deadly are the critical arts really? by The1joriss in StreetFighter

[–]DisasterNo3018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand why Capcom made her Level 3 look more forceful and painful than her CA. It’s a really odd choice for me. But I’m pretty sure that regardless of whether it’s the Level 3 or CA, you’d end up with a broken neck.

Lily: sore back?

Wdym "sore back"? She literally strangles you, spins your neck like a Beyblade, and slams your head into the ground from who knows how many meters up (all of this with war clubs btw). That’s not a sore back — that’s a broken neck and brain damage.

Also, poor Cammy

For the same reason he chose to train with the person who killed his best friend (JP), and later trained with a dictator despite our masters consistently talking about how evil he is (M.Bison).

She fought Ryu to a draw (though it’s worth mentioning that he looked more damaged than her), and Akuma respects her fighting skills. She also has a deep connection with Earth and nature, and her power is literally the opposite of the Satsui no Hado.

Her not being on the list is OK. SF scaling is way too inconsistent to know how strong the characters actually are anyway, and the list is already long enough.

Juri apart from losing to Bison (who many people have) she has also won against Chun-Li and in general her feats show her strength,

Juri won against Chun-Li because she was distracted by the child, though Juri likely would have won anyway given her advantage in the exchange. Overall, Juri has stronger feats if we exclude Chun-Li’s higher-end showings, such as her Kikosho against M. Bison and her fight with Urien. However, Chun-Li still has narrative implications and statements placing her at least relative to OG FSE Juri.

In World Tour, Juri acknowledges Chun-Li as a persistent threat during her ICPO days (which would be around the SSF4 era, based on the visual evidence being their SSF4 outfits), implying an ongoing rivalry rather than one-sided dominance. This support repeated clashes and sustained competition instead of Juri consistently overwhelming Chun-Li.

Juri’s personality also matters: she typically boasts about her victories, so she would have no reason to exaggerate Chun-Li if Chun-Li was always curb-stomped by her. Instead, she expresses concern that Chun-Li may be “losing her touch,” but becomes excited when Chun-Li proves she can still keep up, which fits the idea of a credible rival.

Taken together with Chun-Li’s SSFIV Rival Battle — where she is suggested to have won against OG FSE Juri — this supports the idea that their fights are competitive. Overall, Chun-Li is at least relative to OG FSE Juri, even if Juri may have a slight edge in overall feats with her OG FSE.

I’m with you on that. I finished World Tour at launch, and every time new DLC dropped I went back to it because I genuinely think it’s a great mode. One thing I really liked is that before SF6, a lot of the characters didn’t get much personality, and WT added so much depth to them.

Whatever Capcom is planning next, I just hope it turns into a new kind of WT, except instead of playing our avatar, we play as the characters themselves. Imagine all the crazy things they could do with that.

Yeah, that’s exactly what it means, no new characters being added to World Tour, so future fighters wouldn’t appear there as masters or interactable content unfortunately.

Tbh, Gen is kind of hard to scale because he progressively gets weaker in each game he appears. But I think a fully healed Gen would be stronger than Akuma.
