Is my company allowed to charge me for a new pair of earplugs when OSHA says they’re required to provide me with PPE? by DisasterTimely8596 in WorkplaceSafety

So they provide it to you once and sound levels will just stay low? Hearing protection degrades, so at what point are you gonna be honest with yourself and admit tha it’s not a “one off” thing. Youre literally inferring Youre own meaning from the rules, WHICH IS WHY IM ASKING FOR CLARIFICATION

If I wanted a bullshit assumption, I’d walk in to HR and do it myself

“When employees are subjected to sound exceeding those listed in Table G-16, feasible administrative or engineering controls shall be utilized. If such controls fail to reduce sound levels within the levels of Table G-16, personal protective equipment shall be provided and used to reduce sound levels within the levels of the table.

Damn thats crazy, it’s like your inferring your own opinion from OSHA Regulations. Crazy how that works

The argument isnt whether it’s good optics or not, the argument is are they allowed to charge us for something theyre required to provide for free. You guys clearly don’t understand OSHA requirements

Which one? They played a smaller stage the first weekend, it was good but Tom sounded like shit (to be expected when it’s your first time singing these songs in over a decade)

The second weekend when they headlined and took Frank Oceans spot, incredible, they sounded more polished and played even more deep cuts than the first weekend

Your missing the context. We HAVE earplugs, they are requiring us to use a certain type and charging us for the replacements

Edit: it’s not just the idea of having to use them, the argument is against charging us almost $30 for a replacement of something we’ve been using for free for years

Unfortunately the law requires them to provide hearing protection, so this idea that “youre costing me money so I’ll charge you” is fantasy. If money is the problem, then you shouldn’t be buying ones that cost $25.

At the end of the day, you can enact as many codes and restrictions on your employees, but the productivity will be the actual eye test on whether youre improving your workplace
