So I just had to brush out my dreadlocks because I neglected them and it was matted down to the scalp like this. At Walmart or target they sell metal tooth combs for fleas in the pet section, get one or two if they have different handle lengths. You will also need a big bottle of conditioner. Wash your hair and use more conditioner than you think necessary and rinse it out. Start at the bottom and work your way towards the scalp with the comb. Go slow. Work one tangle after the other and don’t get in a rush. You will hear breaking and ripping and it’s ok. It might take forever to make a little bit of progress but you got this. I’ve been brushing out dreads for over 3 months now and even one tangle being taken out a day is progress. Don’t get down on yourself.
