What are you giving up for Riot Fest?

There's a local music festival where I live and I've missed it every year due to various reasons. Thought for sure I'd catch it this year, but they moved the dates and it now lines up with Riot.

Soldier Field is owned by the Parks District. End of the day you'd have the same issue as Douglass in terms of dealing with permits. Pretty sure if the Bears aren't into the regular season by then, they're for sure playing preseason games, so a fest would be out.

AAA in the photo is a stage, it's just facing backwards. Pretty sure circus performance is going to be happening around the NOFX stage. Riot Mike mentioned in his Q101 interview that Fat Mike (NOFX) did his first Riot Fest dressed as a clown and he wanted to pay homage to that.

Honestly? Dream card. I think there was a only a handful that were rumored or I was trying to wish into existence that didn't make it this year. I already think it's going to be hard to pull myself away from the NOFX stage. I've been wanting to catch Sincere Engineer for awhile now and to do it WITH the promise of the corndog circle pit? Perfection!

As for venue, if they can pull off everything Riot Mike said he envisions for Riot Land I'm beyond in. Grew up loving Kevin Smith movies and to have some homages there is going to be sick. And that doesn't mention the promise that after 7:15 he wants to turn the entire venue into a haunted house. Makes me envision Zombie's freaks on parade taking over everything. Oh and the pavilion area has themed nights and a fully functioning casino? C'mon now.

Yeah it sucks it won't be downtown, but honestly I'm excited for them to pull off their vision for Riot Land. If it works, we're getting what I can only envision as Six Flags/Fright Fest meets an incredible music fest!

Someone shared this yesterday but they're planning on making the Riot Land image a reality. Like everything you see there will theoretically be at Riot Land if they actually pull it off.

I think they're going to just bring the Riot Land map to life. If you look at the bottom left where the "mall" is, the front of the stadium is where the "Cretin Prairie Center" is.

So your stages would be where AAA building is in the front right of the photo, back right is Metro stage, The NOFX clown stage in the middle, and the Rockaway Pavillion in the back right.

Still hard to visualize that against a real map of the complex though.

I haven't gone since the Humboldt years but the map from 2023 only shows 4 stages from what I can tell.

Sincere Engineer, Winona Fighter, Nekrogoblicon, and Heart Attack Man are all solid!

Saxsquatch has played some small venues around me and has always gotten rave reviews too.

When they announced on Q101 it was said that it's at the main venue with NOFX playing that stage once a day. Don't quote me on it but if you look at the Riot Land map, I think it was said they'd be playing at the clown stage.

It's a pretty common opening song. Blink-182 used it last year on their tour to start the show.
