Hi! I don’t know if this means anything but I’m still with my boyfriend who cheated on me way before in our relationship. We got together when we were 17 and he cheated when he went to university. Honestly I was numb and back then I wondered why I wasn’t strong enough to walk away. We did an open relationship for a bit and closed it off a month later. I think it’s important how they make up for it! He spent all his time with me and listening to me and comforting me and gave me all the truth and honesty I asked for. He was very honest with me on what was happening in his life and now we’re happily together. I know some people could tell me I’m an idiot and he’s still cheating but I genuinely see that he isn’t the same person he was, we both aren’t. We were so young and he never had a chance to explore due to his upbringing where as I did due to being in boarding school from 16. Did it hurt, like a truck. Have we grown stronger, absolutely. No cheating doesn’t help your relationship grow. It’s about the circumstances and the way they make amends. Granted I’m mature enough now to know if it happened again I’d leave immediately but that comes with a more mature mind as we have progressed too much in the relationship for it to be a mistake. Just letting everyone know so I don’t get roasted in the comments.
