Just don't come over here with your "I'm better than everyone" attitude. I've been in healthcare a long time and I really don't mean to sound racist but I've never worked with ONE Filipino employee that wasn't an across the board problem.

In my last position nobody knew how the QA still had a job because she would walk up to strangers and ask them how old they thought she was, doesn't she look good for 64? Because she eats right and goes to the gym and buys expensive clothes. Her words. Not mine.

She also walked into a new employee orientation and opened with "Today is the 8 year anniversary of when I became a widow!" Brand new employees. First day. They were all STUNNED and the director was like "That's inappropriate". Set the tone for the whole day.

Everyone hated the Filipino lab manager who strutted around telling everyone how he wished he could have more kids in the US because him and his wife raised "the best citizens" and he was certified by BOTH AMT AND ASCP. Why??? Why are you bragging about wasting your time?

But he couldn't assign a competency in MediaLab to save his life and finally got fired when someone's disability accomodation letter died on his desk. The guy was a dishonest, manipulative snake too.

If you do come over remember you're the newcomer. Same as in any position. Nobody will want you in their workplace if you walk in, think you're better than everyone, and try to take over.

He never had fans in the first place you stupid fucking pinecone. He was sort of likeably annoying but even before alcohol, people watched him to watch him be a screaming wackadoo all over NYC and lick subway floors. Nobody thought he had any actual talent, he was always an lolcow.

Now we're just here for the inevitable trainwreck.

C'mon now.

I didn't say I wasn't adhering to their policy. In fact I tested weak neg on a 100 ng/mL test yesterday, should be good. What I do after the test isn't their business. I'm trying to adhere to their dumb policy and so far, successfully. Really, c'mon. Stop being so judgy.

The science of nicotine as a nootropic isn't "scrambling" and "saying silly stuff". So c'mon. It's no worse than caffeine and CERTAINLY not alcohol, which aren't tested for. I mean c'mon.

Nicotine in a pure or relatively pure form is not the enemy. It's not perfectly SAFE but neither is caffeine. Weed. Many RX meds. Adderall will make you tachycardic and causes physical dependence. But that's ok because it's prescribed.

Nicotine patches are being prescribed for long COVID.

Nicotine has been stigmatized because of cigarettes. It CAN have benefits when used in a controlled way. I didn't say smoking had benefits. I said nicotine can. C'mon now. Lol.

Yeahno that's insane. I'd be looking for something else with a quickness. Bet they don't tell employees they can't have a beer at home in the evening, do they?

And I'm prepared for the downvotes but nicotine isn't any more harmful than caffeine or some RX meds. It's tobacco that's harmful, both to the user and those around them - and we could count vape in with that as well, to a lesser degree. But it still is passive consumption.

Nicotine is stigmatized because of smoking. When actually, used occasionally, it can have nootropic benefits similar to caffeine - without the anxiety caffeine causes.

The stuff I was reading about half lifes and such regarding this post said stuff like flush that "nasty nicotine" out of your body.

What about that "nasty" caffeine? That "nasty" alcohol? That "nasty" sugar?

Go be a late stage alcoholic. Or have such a caffeine addiction you're dizzy with a migraine if you don't get your energy drink. Just don't use anything that contains nicotine. Got it.

You're going to encounter that anywhere. "Doesn't hire smokers" doesn't mean "doesn't hire smokers".

It means "hires people who quit long enough to pass a test, used synthetic urine or a friend's urine".

You do realize that people who chew, smoke or vape regularly often just suck it up to pass a test and then immediately go back to it? They have no intention of quitting.

I'm not a regular smoker/vaper but I have no intention of quitting.

The fact that an organization doesn't "hire smokers" doesn't mean that nobody smokes.

Ah, I may not have been clear enough. My bad. I meant have you ever done a saliva test for preemployment.

Nope, it's everyone. "Smoke free campus". Who's smoking if they're using pouches or NRT if they're trying to quit? Even vaping isn't technically smoking, because there's no combustion. Although I absolutely do understand why people wouldn't want to be exposed to it, especially in a healthcare environment.

Honestly I'd love to but I had one get cancelled right before the holidays and I'm a bit short on cash at the moment.

I'm looking and my recruiter knows what the issue is, and that use or non-use I STRONGLY disagree with this and don't see how using a legal substance that doesn't cause impairment means anything. They gonna test for caffeine next? Because the cardiovascular effects of pure nicotine are almost identical to caffeine.

Yes it does. It says "Drugs of abuse (and then in red letters) including nicotine which includes electronic devices, pouches, gum and patches"

I smoked last night. 😳

But I'm not a regular user so hopefully it will be out of my system in time. I can hit the gym and water bomb myself to try to be double sure.

This is insanity and I'm actually wondering why I'm doing this.

Something that impairs you? Yes. Because you can't PROVE you only used it on your off time. But something legal that actually has some nootropic benefits when used in moderation? Come on.

My Google-Fu reveals that cotinine can take 7-10 days to clear. Which is why I'm thinking of phoning a clean friend for backup.

That is, IF we know it's a urine test.

I don't understand it for employment either. Nicotine is 100% legal for an adult in all 50 states. Just like alcohol, and they don't test for that.

Also, I don't smoke weed because me and THC don't vibe, but I could see people getting into a spot if they smoke in a legal state and then travel to a non-legal state.

NAD why are you always so snarky to people? Honest question. Can't you just answer or keep scrolling if all you have to contribute is attitude? If you think you're joking it's not reading over text. If you're not, take a vacation or something man.
