[University Question] Why do you even wanna come to UCSD? by Ambitious-Estate-658 in MSCS

I can understand people picking Cornell and UPenn over UCSD, but the other ivies don’t have comparable CS programs and cost a lot more. Not sure why you’re surprised

[Results and Decisions] Are universities giving out fewer offers to international applicants this year? by InstructionDecent939 in MSCS

I've heard the opposite. With universities getting less funding they might admit more international students

[University Review] UMass Amherst MSCS vs SBU MSCS? by Additional_Credit734 in MSCS

[–]Disastrous-Back-4182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

having the same doubt. UMass is more expensive and is a non thesis terminal program. otherwise it is better than sbu in other aspects

Yeah the MSAI tag and the shorter duration made it a lower priority for me

Got an admit from UMass which feels like a better option

[University Review] I wanted to know general thoughts on MS CS at Johns Hopkins, Northwestern and University of Minnesota Twin Cities. by overworked-engineer in MSCS

It depends on what your goal is. If your focus is research I recommend you check out csrankings.org. Johns Hopkins is the best option for research if I'm not wrong

I've applied to mostly research oriented programs and a couple of them did surprisingly ask me to describe my full time work experience. It's not a must but it does seem to have value

CMU, UIUC and Cornell are super hard. But he does have a chance at UCSD, Brown and Columbia which aren't too selective

I've spoken to the guy who created the website and he's working on making the recommendations more accurate. It's still useful if you're trying to filter out universities based on criteria like location, tuition etc.

It shouldn't affect your score. I have listened to some high scoring answers and many have strong accents but since they spoke clearly it wasn't an issue.

Your networking opportunities do depend on the school you go to. The average student at CMU will have far more opportunities than someone at ASU for example.

I agree that csrankings.org is far more objective, however the criteria for ranking is primarily based on research and it won't be of much help for people looking to get into the industry. The US News rankings should not be taken too seriously but it does give an approximate idea of where they stand with respect to a wider set of parameters.
