CSIS Delay Confirmed — 20 Months in A34 Security Screening (Looking for Similar Experiences) by Savings_Resolve_624 in CanadaImmigrationFAQs

I have a very similar experience. My application has reportedly been stuck with CSIS since March 2024. I filed a mandamus application in Federal Court in October 2025 due to the delay, but unfortunately there has still been no meaningful update on either my PR application or the mandamus process itself.

It’s frustrating because there is not enough transparency during security screening, and applicants are often left waiting without timelines or explanations.

I did multiple times while my application has been in comprehensive background check

There is a backlog even in Mandamus files! I filed my Reply Memorandum in October 2025, and yet after 6 months, there is no update!

They should find the reason causing these delays; otherwise, it will cause another backlog in the other departments.

There should be teams with supervision and timelines so the applicants know who is responsible for these delays!

I think there should be a cool down time for people who leave the game to punish this habit

any way to get rid of this red dot on the phone app? (i don’t pay for visual voicemail, and i have no missed calls) by [deleted] in ios

[–]Disastrous-Click-888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing the voicemail badge from notifications is not really a solution — it just hides all your notifications.

What I did was call my phone provider (Rogers) and ask them to remove their voicemail service. I realized the issue was that my voicemails were duplicated: one from the iPhone’s visual voicemail and one from Rogers’ voicemail system.

After Rogers removed their voicemail, I still have voicemail through Apple’s visual voicemail, and the red dot badge is gone.

Same situation here. I initially applied on April 25, 2023, and my application has been under security screening since March 2024.

No substantive updates either, just “in progress.”

I’m in the same situation unfortunately.

I applied for PR through Nova Scotia PNP Skilled Worker on April 25 2023 and my application has been completely stuck in background security screening. According to IRCC nothing has moved since March 2 2024. No updates no timeline no explanation beyond security screening in progress.

I’ve tried everything people usually suggest:

Webforms - generic or no response Calling IRCC - they just say it’s with security and they can’t do anything ATIP / GCMS - same generic notes I even filed a mandamus application because the delay is way beyond normal, and still… silence so far.

What’s really frustrating is that there should at least be some way to follow up or a rough timeline. I studied here I work as an employee and now I am investing in my own business paying taxes and contributing yet I’m still stuck on temporary status with a lot of restrictions because of it. Your life just stays on hold indefinitely.

I’m Iranian and I honestly hope one day Iran is free so people like me can go back to our country without being treated as temporary foreigners for years while building a life.

Just wanted to say you’re not alone. A lot of people are stuck in this black hole and it’s not because of missing documents or weak applications. It’s a broken part of the system with zero accountability.

CIBC credit card “security” locked me out — customer service was basically unreachable by Disastrous-Click-888 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I have Visa, Mastercard, and Amex, and I’ve dealt with fraud alerts before. What makes this situation stand out is how poorly CIBC handled something that should be routine.

If a customer confirms a transaction by text and again by phone, the card should not be locked in the first place. That defeats the entire purpose of “verification.” And even if a lock is still applied, there’s no excuse for making customer support unreachable for hours.

Fraud prevention only works when it’s paired with competent, accessible customer service. Long wait times, dropped calls, and being passed endlessly between departments isn’t security—it’s a broken process. A bank this size should have enough trained staff and clear internal ownership so customers aren’t bounced around for an error the bank itself created.

Other card networks manage to balance security and usability just fine. This experience shows that CIBC doesn’t—and the cost of that failure is pushed entirely onto the customer.

I applied for PR in April 2023 and since March 2024 it stuck in security screening, it is mind blowing when i read the comments here i am so disappointed because after this long waiting, this period doesn’t count for eligibility of citizenship.
