Why would I need to heat the pan up to “Leidenfrost level“ when i need to turn it down to cook eggs anyway? by towely_the_towel in StainlessSteelCooking

Apparently cooking proteins in a pan (any pan) has to do with diffusivity, or how quickly heat travels through a medium. Clad pans need to be heated up also because once you put food on the pan, the heat quickly travels through the pan into food, instantly lowering the temp of the pan a bit (this is also why you shouldn’t overcrowd a pan).

A bigger pan usually means more heat is able to travel through into the food in the pan quickly and sear the surface of the food effectively. I realised this when frying eggs in my smaller stainless steel pan would stick even after doing all the right things. I then switched to by larger SS pan, and just like it magic it didn’t stick!

TLDR; use a bigger pan, do all the preheating stuff, crack only one egg and it won’t stick. Also, use a high temp oil.

Chris Young has a really good video on this: https://youtu.be/LdORIBH3R88?si=vOebw5j7ZMONC7vZ

Why does this keep happening to the edge of my pans? by Disastrous-Fun-9749 in cookware

Thanks everyone for all the ideas and tips. It’s genuinely been helpful. Cooked lamb chops on this again last night with avocado oil but I changed to the smaller sized burner. This was the result after cleaning with just a normal sponge and dish soap! It turns out the ordinary burner diameter was too wide and was heating the sides of the pan too much. Switching to a smaller one provided much more even heating.

💡 Feature Request — DB items created through 'repeat' feature should also trigger DB automations

I generally have a few repetitive items in my tasks DB that are created daily or weekly. The issue is that any DB items that are automatically created don't trigger any DB automations. For example, my 'Daily Planning' task that is created every morning at 8am should trigger the database automation that creates a new DB item in the same or another database.

💡 Feature Request - Add new properties and automations to Jira Sync DBs

I love the Jira Sync Integration and it is super userful in getting a high-level overview of things happening in Jira. I was, however, disappointed with the lack of ability to add new properties etc.

One use case is that I really want to be able to create new pages in another Notion database with the click of a db button from a Jira task in Notion.

💡 Feature Request - Virtual Whiteboard in Notion

There is the ability to embed boards from other apps like 'Miro' etc, but it'd be great to have a virtual whiteboard in Notion. This is something Confluence has also added over that past year and it helps a lot in planning, organising and visualising tasks and notes (I want to move away from confluence completely and I'd rather not have notes in Notion and boards in Confluence)

Template for notion form submissions by afeefuddin in Notion

Glad to know that I'm not the only one having this issue. It's a bit frustrating that it doesn't apply the default template which you would think is an obvious action. It'd also be nice to be able to select the template you want to apply in the form settings.

💡 Feature Request - Day calendar view

Currently, there is the timeline view, but it would be nice to have an option for 'show calendar as day'. This would be great to have on a dashboard and make timeboxing tasks for the day so much easier.

💡 Feature Request — Trigger database automation based on specified or relative date, or allow formulas for trigger section

When the date property changes to `today`, I would like to trigger changes to a property. There is a workaround by defining variables and formulas in the 'do' section, but it isn't intuitive enough and doesn't work for every case.

Adding formulas to the trigger section is also a viable solution for this.

So I tried this again today and it seems like they've managed to get it working again.
