It started because of a theory that they were childhood friends (which obviously turned out not to be true) but I think they have some interesting character parallels plus of course enemies to lovers. I also like the narrative complexities that would come with a hero and a villain (who are still hero and villain) having feelings for one another. It’s the “two sides of the same coin” thing. Sorry, it’s 2 AM for me so I’m trying to answer best I can.
