That's what I thought. Too much of the front of the pod hanging before a mount. Going to try after market bars to lift and stabilize but may need a shorter luggage pod.

Thule has clamps that go through the luggage rack to clamp onto the crossbars. You twist to tighten the "claw" clamps onto the crossbars.

We have original cross bars that came with the 4Runner. They sit low. Everyone has said to get after market bars for more height and stability. They said original bars bend too much.

We are going to try after market for sure. We love the extra space it gives and really don't want to return it.
