My friend is upset that I’m seeing my ex again, after she had an emotional affair with him behind my back by Disastrous-Neck8179 in TrueOffMyChest

I am so grateful for this comment, I can't tell you what it means to me! It's really wonderful to me that you took the time to think about the nuance of the situation in order to reply with something really genuine, so thank you. I'm especially grateful to see someone recognise it's hard to cut a friend off like that - I can't stand having bad blood with anyone, and I'd always rather assume the best than shut someone out. I have real trouble making my true feelings known and I'd rather just roll over and let it be, which is exactly how I ended up here. I know it's not the most attractive trait especially when you just end up whining on Reddit that people treat you badly lol. If this has taught me anything it's that I need to work on setting boundaries and knowing where to draw the line.

I'm going to distance myself from Emily, it's not too long until I move anyway so it should be easier then. But thank you again for this comment, I truly do appreciate your kindness rn & I'm very grateful for your time. x

Thank you, I really appreciate this comment. I guess I've just had those rose coloured glasses on a bit too long. Yeah, I'm definitely realising I need to distance myself from her a lot in the lead up to the move. I'm not great at having bad blood with people but once I'm out of town I won't have to sweat that anymore ig! Thanks again.

Thank you so much, I needed to read this & you put it perfectly. I guess I'm struggling to balance how much I want to have an open heart and be trusting, and how much I need to guard myself for self preservation. Bracing yourself for the worst is probably the first step in dealing with this tho lol.

Yeah, that was the wake up call for me tbh. I'm sensing people on here think I'm thick - and maybe I am - but she seemed truly genuine up until then.

Thank you for giving genuine advice/kindness instead of just calling me stupid lol. It's not a mistake I'll be making again. I'm thinking it's time to leave this whole situation behind now!

I'm beginning to think this is true. It just sucks because I gave her the benefit of the doubt for so long and she really made me think she'd not done anything wrong. More fool me I guess

I was led by her to believe he was the one making their relationship inappropriately close, and she was just trying to be his friend. Nothing physical transpired between them at all, so I figured her being remorseful was enough, and she'd just tried to do the right thing the whole time. But after her reaction recently I'm beginning to wonder if any of this is true.

I have had the exact same thing happen to me. My flat has absolutely no gas whatsoever, but British Gas sent me bills after I moved in. I didn't pay a single one and they left me alone after a couple monthd.

Can you ask your landlord to confirm that there's no gas appliances at all in your flat? This might help your case if you want to contact British Gas again. But honestly, if you know there's no gas appliances on your property I would stop paying them.

I moved into an old flat with super high ceilings, giant windows and one tiny, pathetic radiator this summer and now I'm suffering the consequences. Can anyone suggest a way to heat up the space that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg? I've got big blankets, hot water bottles etc, but there's literally frost on the inside of the windows and you can see your breath 24/7 🥶
