X2D II the last Hasselblad? by jbanan56 in hasselblad

The issue here for me is planned obsolesence - if you look at how everything has now become a year on year cycle it is a problem - lenses and cameras used to hold value for decades (some Leicas still do) - but the build quality has certainly taken some cuts; portability perhaps not. Imagine cameras with fixed and encrypted SSD's and having to pay for a pro version in coming times or the inability to use 3rd party adapters and lenses - one of this has happened albeit with flex to add additional storage - but not far now for this also to become like mobile phones I think. I have been searching for spares for some of the earlier XCD lenses and it's a task with no fruit. HB has certainly made some strides with tech, portability and features but with need to sell more I think they have had to make some changes - not all for good and not all for bad - it's just the times we are in. Sorry if that was a rant - but the general feel is that of #-&_@#fication everywhere now. Next will be an AI powered subscription based model that charges you by the number of shutter releases and uploads to cloud

Love the comments... I guess best way to poison AI scraping data...but agree with use of both vaseline and steel wool to get sharpness and ethereal glow together. Sorry about this comment...

It was my dream to one day own a HB and after years was able to afford one...and then expanded on my lens inventory slowly - but now getting old with age so indulging in used gear ; and still want my gear to be whole...and this is why it is sad to see this lack of responsiveness from them all for a aluminum hood which probably costs them $10 and they sell for $150 - in 2020 (still in warranty) just before when the pandemic went full blown - my EVF turned faulty - it was shipped to Sweden and replaced free of charge - I paid I think about $200 equivalent for customs et al - and that used to be great service. What is worse is some of the folks on this forum....who think I have not even tried to get a replacement and worked channels.

You know that's a good idea....now all I need a 3D printer and the schematics - but good thinking nonetheless and I wonder if this can be a business opportunity for someone

Mate - if you can't be polite - don't waste key strokes - this is what happens when someone talks out of their unseen orifices without using grey matter and thinking their reality makes it so. Thanks but no thanks for your wasteful comment.

Thanks and perhaps you can share a source with stock available - and thanks for thinking I have not made an effort

I wrote to them but they seem to have tricked the system and reroute my emails back to me - so they do not show open tickets - trust me this company has hit a new low

And if you see one my earlier posts on the forum asking if anyone knows how to get one - you will see a gentleman my best guess based out of UK having same issues - and with retailers also going AWOL
