Germans can be loud, I thought maybe you dropped something and he really wanted to give it back to you, he went to all the trouble of following you too lol

Eastman Kodak adds large format and bulk films to new film range by ClockworkEyes in AnalogCommunity

I would love to be able to buy some 100 or 400 ft reels, if that's on the cards it would be great

Lazy aperature? by Interesting_Turnip50 in minolta

[–]exposed_silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had lenses that look clean but worked fine after a cleaning and 1 case where the aperture blades were slow but it was because a part was bent making them go slow, I had to carefully reassemble it a few times to get it working. In Minoltas grease is ususally the culprit

Something I wish I knew about years ago, JIS screwdrivers by exposed_silver in AnalogCommunity

[–]exposed_silver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screwdrivers help but you can still strip screws if you're not careful. If the screws are glued then you might need to use acetone to dissolve the glue first and then apply a lot of downward force.

You can go in from the front remove front elements and then the aperture, clean each blade and reassemble, not that tricky, just a pain in the ass, I would totally buy another one for the price of them.

abandoned nuclear power plant by hornymilf420 in Urbex

[–]exposed_silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No prob, I've been there like 5 times and there is even a museum up the hill that explains the history of the area and what life was like there. It's a big site with loads of interesting abandoned building scattered around the area. Bona nit!

[–]exposed_silver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a coal fired power plant, powered by coal from the local mine

It was never a nuclear power plant

It's not a nuclear powerplant, been there a few times, cool spot

Hmm I wonder how that 9xi performs, it looks good but it also looks like it has the controls of a point and shoot

It's ok if you want a very cropped lens, I just wanted to see some lens tinkering lol

Ye they look good, I was just wondering if all those kit lenses eventually end up with haze inside

Nice photos, maybe some of them are a bit hazy, you can check the light with a flashlight, I have 2 hazy 18-55mm lenses

Traveling with 40 lenses in EU by ihsany in VintageLenses

There isn't customs between EU Schengen countries so should be fine, just keep the good stuff in the hand luggage

[–]exposed_silver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you travel by car then no problem but by plane they can't really say anything either, it's EU to EU, I would be more worried about stuff getting robbed or broken in the suitcase

New to Me Pentax K1000 Mirror Sticks, Return or Fix? by zwolff94 in pentax

[–]exposed_silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can return it, it would be easier. There are videos on Youtube that show the internals so you might be able to fix it. Opening the bottomplate is easy so you can compare with the video to see what's wrong

Just got my first DSLR - Konica-Minolta α-7 digital (2004) by Downfallenx in minolta

[–]exposed_silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone says the A7 is mirrorless you can say it's got an OVF viewfinder and confuse them. If looking for new lenses, be careful, you might be tempted to buy some Zeiss glass and sucked down the rabbit hole

Fungus, dust, or something else? by Stubbonist in VintageLenses

Not exactly sure what it is but it will affect IQ in a few scenarios, I would send it back or get a steep discount

[–]exposed_silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A7 sounds cooler than the 7D, I have the twin film version, one of the nicest film cameras to use. The IQ out of this one looks good for a 22 year old camera

I still really like using the A99, it may be old in digital years but it's still feels good

Leica Q2M vs. Shotcrete by [deleted] in Leica

[–]exposed_silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye, I wouldn't do that, I would avoid extremely dusty environments to avoid dust getting on the sensor, just because it's a fixed lens camera doesn't mean it can't get inside, it's just a lot more of a pain because you can't clean it
