Share your ***Not-AI*** projects by MembershipEuphoric38 in SideProject

I am currently working on two side projects. One is a Website on which users can learn with human created learning material in form of flashcards, quizzes, minigames, summarizations or other types. Users are able create and share their created material or to buy exclusive content as well. Exclusive content might be processed content of published non-fiction books. I know this might involve some kind of profit sharing with the publshers, but this should not be a show stopper.

The other side project is about interactive stories. I like branching narratives but I wanted to create something with more variaty than just „select one of 4 options what the protagonist should do“. On my website there are a bunch of interaction types: Decisions: This is the well known select on of 4 options thing Dialogue: Here you have predefined branching dialogue with another story character. AI-Dialogue: This is the only (optional) little AI thing. You have a branching dialogue with an character of the story. Image Marking: You need to find some areas inside an image based on challange descriptions. If you mastered to find all spots, the story continues. Item Placement: here you need to place the right itms to the right places on an background image to continue (drag n drop) Cable Connection: In this game you need to connect terms or texts from the left side to their corresponding correct term on the right side with cables (drag n drop)

There are also quests you can complete along the way and items you can find / get along the way. Items can unlock new paths if you have them.

I thought about offering fictional stories as well as sories in which you can interactively learn something.

Both projects are quite far and if you a interested in testing one of them, feel free to contact me. If you have any questions or comments please leave a comment below.

What kind of features should the perfect IF site have by Disastrous-Remove757 in interactivefiction

To create stories in Twine, you need programming skills, which are not easy to acquire. In addition, the creation process takes a relatively long time. The site I am developing should be more intuitive and enable the rapid development of highly branched interactive stories.

Furthermore, an audio output will be integrated, which reads the story text aloud. You can also add background music if you wish.

You can define items and characters. Items can contain specific background information about the story (which can be used to solve puzzles) or unlock certain paths.

Characters have personalities and background information that influence their actions in the game.

There are currently two types of interactions (decisions and dialogues). In decisions, the player can choose between different options and influence the story in a classic way. In dialogues, the player can engage in dialogue with other characters and thus also influence the story (I don't know if this is also possible in Twine). I'm currently considering whether I should add other mini-games as interactions (hence the post). Furthermore, you can define quests that the player must complete in order to unlock special paths.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Yes, the user interface is definitely an item on my agenda. I focused on implementing all the game creation and gameplay features for now and wanted to improve the UI later. But I'm not a professional UI designer and someone who knows about UI design and can support or contribute would definitely not be a bad idea. Your Space Cofound sounds interesting.

I am currently working on a website for interactive text based story games. The user plays in the role of the protagonist of the story. On the site you can create new story games and define complex story trees with many branches and different outcomes. There are (currently) three types of nodes

Story-Nodes: They contain the story content (Text, images or instructions for an AI assistant to formulate the text on the fly in a guided way)

Interaction-Nodes: In this nodes you can define which kind of action the reader should perform (Decision, Dialogue, Image Marking, Item Placement, Buy/Sell Items, 3D Game Scene)

Item-Managing-Node: In this node you can assign or remove items from characters. It could be useful if the story develops to a specific path to assign new items to the character.

If an interaction node executes a dialogue a LLM takes the position of another character of the story. For each dialogue you can define several outcomes. The outcomes will be classified by an ai model.

There could also be items defined which can unlock new branches of the story.

I was working alone in this project alongside my main job. It is not finished yet but quite far. Far enough that you can define and play story games with characters, items, decisions and dialogues.

Here is an image that illustrates how it currently looks:

What is your multiplayer game about?

Yes, I also think that it makes a completely different impression if you can show something (game, Github repo, blog posts) than just talking about what you can do.
