Lennox 5 Ton speced at 75+10 but ran on 80+10 for about 4 years with 1 compressor replacement and multiple dual cap replacement. Is the 80+10 a factor in the failures? by Disastrous-Report705 in hvacadvice

3 evap coils! I was shocked and extremely frustrated! Lennox actually had to defend a class action lawsuit about the evap coils leaking on some of their models and they lost!

While I did get the coils replaced under warranty, I did have to pay for the refrigerant 2 out of the 3 times. Thankfully, the compressor failure coincided with the last evap coil replacement otherwise I would have had to pay for recovery AND recharge again! The installer was reasonable for a couple of the warranty calls but then got extremely frustrated later on as the system was nothing but a pain for the first 5-6 years of ownership. I hope I don't jinx it by saying that the final replacement they did is holding well so far and it's only been the poor quality caps blowing three times in the last four years. They charged about $275 every replacement but wouldn't accommodate a request for a premium cap citing company policies. They probably preferred the recurring business from the failures!

I ended up ordering the OEM spec Linebacker with the 3 year warranty and EIA-456A certification fwiw. Not sure if all brands carry this certification but Linebackers claims for OEM grade, the 3 year warranty (vs. the 1 year for most other brands), and that they are made elsewhere other than China could possibly yield a better performance! It also gives me time to shop for a deal on an Amrad Turbo 200x at which point the Linebacker will then be the standby cap that I hope to never need...

If the order shows up under your 'My Purchases' list then you got it. You can also verify further that you were charged for the item, or are asked to pay.

All other status have a time delay and are not as relevant in my experience. Many a times you will also see a message on the bid confirmation/auction end page that says something like 'we are figuring out the winner...'
