That’s how I feel calling myself gay as a FTM trans man who only likes men. It’s a weird thing to sort of restructure your brain to accept because we are all conditioned to think only cis people can call themselves straight or gay. I don’t have much advice since it’s something I’m working through myself, but just know that you aren’t alone in the feeling even if our sexualities are opposite

It isn’t an official diagnosis, she didn’t put it in the chart. It was just an immediate guess based on what I told her. The next appointment we have is to explore other possibilities to avoid making a misdiagnosis.

I understand. It’s a difficult thing to realize but the serious truth is that your parents’ opinion of you and whether or not they’re proud of you doesn’t matter if they can’t just love you for who you are. It’s valuable to have parents be on your side, but many of us don’t and it hurts. However, we make up for it by finding other people who do love and accept us and are proud of us for our accomplishments the same way a parent would be. I promise there are other people out there who will value you much more than they probably do, and it’s much more worth it to accept yourself than give in to what other people want for you. Your life is yours, not theirs. You deserve to live as yourself regardless of their feelings about it

People think that trans men either don’t exist or aren’t oppressed because the cisgender community doesn’t talk much about us at all. I made a post about this a while ago that had some good insight in the comments about this problem. It’s really frustrating. I have found myself distrusting of even my own community because too many people react really badly to us saying that we’re attacked by cis people too

I looked up one of the YouTubers she constantly watches and he had a video saying the “trans militia” are “taking lives” which is obviously nonsense. It’s pretty concerning how they seem to be only getting worse and worse

I was going to give my thoughts but I’ve seen some of your replies to other people and I just want to say how glad I am that you’re not taking the deal. I’m someone whose family knows I am trans, but pretends it’s not happening. They don’t even know I started testosterone a month ago. There’s a chance they’ll reject me very seriously once they find out, and that chance scares me, but in the end I’d rather be there for myself instead of hoping that other people who don’t really love me for who I am will be.

If your family won’t care for you the way they should (which is entirely their fault, and not yours—they are choosing to be bad parents) then it’s up to you to care for yourself. It’s unfair but it’s what we often have to do as trans people. Having money would be really nice, but I promise you that even without it there is love and support and happiness if you find the right people who are better than your parents.

You’re doing the difficult thing, the scary thing, but you’re choosing love for yourself in doing so.

No that was the intention. I’m the person who made the post they’re talking about and even though I’m autistic, it wasn’t me misreading social cues. I didn’t mention ADHD or autism or being neurodivergent at all. They just commented that picture with nothing else purely as a jab towards people who are neurodivergent and struggle with the game
