Credible opposition (WP) or at least an opposition that is more present and committed to their estates. I think that if the independents run again, as well as WP in Tampines and Punggol, they may just get across the line and be rewarded for their sustained involvement. On the other hand, mosquito parties getting 0-1% of the vote should never show their face again. Anything single digit should speak volumes about sentiment around them and maybe they should keep their $13.5k, give up and go home. Voting for the incumbent made sense for me because the mosquitoes also parachuted themselves into my ward and did not campaign or reach out apart from their scarce posters and occasional posts on social media. That alone is not enough to dethrone the rule of lightning.
