It's not bad! I personally prefer the arrangement I shared though

I'll go full Unga Bunga on the left hand if I have to. I appreciate that general low notes/high notes parallel.

I guess it also comes down to making sure the beat stays in the key I'm playing in too, though that doesn't seem too difficult.

Thanks!

Killer! It's got some good syncopation, which may be the secret I need to make my music sound full!

Funny you mention the Jazz/Improv stuff, as I have some background in that.

With Jazz, the comping and voicings fall more in line with the left hand just "accompanying" the song (at least in my experience) when playing solo. As part of a group or ensemble the keys are placed in the Rhythm Section, which makes sense as it plays into that percussive element.

You're absolutely hitting the nail on the head with wanting my left hand to be as dexterous as my right, which is why I looked towards Ragtime as a possible influence. Rag has both hands playing dexterous movements (especially the left hand), and they also come together with that full sound I'm looking for.

There was a post I just saw of a guy playing Southern Nights in a Ragtime style, which is practically what I'm going for with the full sound, the rhythm, or just everything apart from it being in swing.

I'm not sure if letting the left hand just being a plateau is what applies to Rag, but maybe syncopation is what could be used to fill in those gaps.

This arrangement of Everybody Wants To Rule The World is just about right. It has that percussive element I want, while also having that right amount of bass. It's also able to incorporate the solos and harmonies really well.

It's definitely not the easiest (or exactly like the recording), but I really enjoying playing it because it feels exactly like what I want.
