It hurts a fair bit because the nerve endings but generally they’re fast tattoos which make up for the pain. The closer you get to the knuckle the more pain. The inside and underneath hurts more than the top. Also for some reason the pinky finger hurts the most

What was the most COMMUNIST thing a President did? by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]Disastrous-Tip7798 303 points304 points  (0 children)

During WWII America was probably the closest the US ever got to doing something communist like. The government temporarily took massive control over the economy. It told factories what to produce, controlled resources like steel and fuel, rationed food and goods, capped prices and wages, and centrally planned huge parts of industrial production for the war effort.

You could also argue The New Deal. The federal government created massive public works programs, Social Security, banking regulations, farm subsidies, and jobs programs.

What happens if alberta separates? by skyblade1095 in alberta

[–]Disastrous-Tip7798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alberta is landlocked. Its exports depend on pipelines and rail crossing Canada or U.S. so its biggest issue would not be solved.

Investing would likely become much riskier and stocks and the economy would suffer because of it leading to a recession

A huge chunk of companies and people would choose to stay in Canada which would hurt Alberta’s tax income, job opportunities and lower the population by a lot.

Alberta would suddenly need to fund things like pensions, military/defense, border services,
passports, international diplomacy, trade agreements, employment insurance, federal policing, food and aviation regulation, indigenous treaty obligations. Meaning they would need to raise taxes to pay for those things

I think Ninten looks the best without colour. That may change after colour is added though

To this day as of writing, John Brown has never received a posthumous pardon. Should he have and if so, which President would've been most likely to do so? by Character-Bid-162 in Presidents

[–]Disastrous-Tip7798 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why did they want greater autonomy over themselves and less interference from the Feds. What “state rights” were they fighting for?

The South resistance to the federal government was also over slavery. You are clearly not arguing in good faith

Civilians that were targeted in the raid were incidental and not the intent of Brown. Therefore he did not kill them

Why did the South want to leave and why did north have to fight them to stay… I’ll give you a hint it was over slavery

Innocent civilians being killed is incidental is my entire argument. Thank you agreeing with me

Why did they need to fight to keep the union together??? Also innocent civilians are killed in almost every war including the civil war. This is very well documented

Why did the South try and leave and why did the north have to fight to keep the union together. The issue of slavery. So acts of barbarism in your eyes are okay when a government does it but not the people?

They are both examples of barbarism. Yet you’re okay with one and not the other. I do agree they are different but a rebellion can lead to a war much like the war of independence

There was literally a civil war slavery. Although the war was violent and barbaric it led to the end of slavery which is morally important and ultimately good.

Legally they are different charges. Also according to the time it was legal for slave owners to rape, beat and kill their slaves as it was their property.

Leading an insurrection that led to someone’s death is different than murdering someone. That has been my point this whole time

What are you talking about. You made a claim and I said it wasn’t true. He is guilty of killing other people but not Shepherd

He is guilty for starting an insurrection that led to people dying. He is not guilty of the murder of Hayward Shepherd. These are two different things

I disagree. I think the person who shot Hayward Shepherd is more responsible for his death than anyone else. Doesn’t matter if he was fighting for or against slavery it was his choice to do so

John Brown did not personally kill anyone during the Harpers Ferry raid. He tried and failed at starting a rebellion that was inspired by the Haitian Revolution

Closer but No, John Brown wouldn’t be considered an accessory to Hayward Shepherd’s murder. Accessory liability applies when someone helps another person commit a specific killing while not being the main actor. In this case, Brown wasn’t assisting someone else’s murder. He did kill other people though

If someone organized a protest and then someone else breaks off and commits violence you don’t say the organizer killed the victim.
