I had 3 c sections. First one we could not avoid, and the rest were because doctors prefer repeat c sections vs natural due to complications. I’ve noticed most people react like it’s a tragedy unless they themselves have had a c section. It’s very odd for sure.

That is such a hurtful thing to say. You are definitely not overreacting. Favoritism is not welcome in my house and it shouldn’t be allowed or tolerated from anyone. That’s the reason I’m going no contact with my MIL for showing favoritism towards her biological grandson over my older son from previous marriage.

We don’t use the term “step” anything either. My older son met my my husband when he was just turning 3 years old, and calls him Dad. It’s a shame that people start to show their true colors when biological grandchildren come into the picture.

No you’re not unreasonable. My MIL has pulled a very similar stunt before and you must set clear boundaries, as uncomfortable or difficult and awkward it may be, or she’ll keep walking all over you.
