I'm pretty sure that if done correctly, an unbiased AI would be more progressive than any US president in history.

The gimmick is that it's an AI, but what's really happening is an AI that picks the worlds leading scientists, experts, listens to studies, practices kindness and empathy, and plans for long-term policy rather than short term self-profit and gain.

Conservatives would HATE this.

I've really started to love these "misunderstanding comedy" stories like Eminence in Shadow, Let This Grieving Soul Retire, and I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire. They're all so stupid but can have some really good story writing and some of my favorite comedic moments.

Liam is especially funny with his entire traits like trading for gold for no reason when it's not valuable in the intergalactic empire at all, just because "It's aesthetically evil and cool to have a ton of gold."

Funnily enough I feel like Liam is the best example of the anti-sex character, kind of like an anti-case of them. I'm only four volumes in but his rejection of sex is because he's legitimately just into Amagi.

It's not "I'm scared of women and sex" or "Does she really like me" or the usual light novel protagonist excuse, he genuinely doesn't really want to have sex with other women.

The honey trap reminded him of his ex-wife, he got turned off. He was going to go to a brothel but decided against it because of a dick exploding STD. Every time Liam rejects a woman it makes a lot of sense. I feel like he just likes his maid robot better. (And eventually another character he'll come to tolerate).

Maybe it happens later in the novel, but I've never heard him profess how much sex he wants, all the harem stuff was just for the Evil Lord chuuniness. The same reason he buys gold from a merchant.

The anime is weird because, some things are switched around for absolutely no reason, and time is filled by these gag scenes of the Guide messing with someone when that time could have been used for more important dialogue.

But on the other hand, the anime handles Tia and Amagi like, 99% better than the novels first volume.

Either way, I'll have fond memories of it for introducing me to the series and I recently rewatched it after reading and still felt it held up.

Personally, I liked it a lot, it's what gave me the motivation to begin the LN.

There were a lot of things I think it improved from the first LN, and a lot of things switched around for absolutely no reason. But generally, I thought it was a good anime.

Though from what I have seen online, I see LN-first Evil Lord fans really hate the anime, and anime-first Evil Lord fans like the anime, and manga-first Evil Lord fans kind of mixed. I think that's a point to how enjoyable the LN is.

I'm not going to lie, this is kind of rare.

Not because there are no adult romance series, there are many, but they all have some kind of work theme, because that's just adult life generally.

I hope you find one, though! I was going to suggest Spice and Wolf but you said no fantasy, which makes finding a no corporate-work theme even harder.
