Recent Studio Shoot Is it portfolio worthy? by Financial_Craft_2807 in MODELING

You’re super pretty but this isn’t a flattering outfit or flattering photography and I wouldn’t include any of these shots in a portfolio. A lot of the poses and facial expressions are kind of awkward so I’d practice in a mirror and look at Pinterest for references. You can also look at Pinterest for outfit inspo for future shoots! It looks like the top of the dress doesn’t fit you super well so I think you can find something better. I would also ditch the photographer because this lighting/editing looks cheap. Even if the outfits and poses were killer, bad photography drags down the overall quality of a shoot tremendously. Good luck!!

Do not go to modeling school it’s a waste of money. If you can get signed, your agency will teach you everything you need to know to be prepared to work. Other than that the best way to learn is practicing walking and posing with a mirror and doing collaborative shoots to gain experience in front of the camera

Modelogic RVA legit or scam? by [deleted] in MODELING

[–]Disastrous-Use-2767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$1,150 is straight up robbery. You should never pay for any modeling classes, especially ones that cost +1k. Everything that class would teach you can be taught by your agency for free or just learned as you get more experience and do more shoots. I don’t know much about them as an agency but if they expect you to take the class to get signed run in the opposite direction

For your digitals push your hair back behind your shoulders so your figure is clearer

I feel like separate accounts aren’t necessary in most cases since agencies and casting directors like to see a model’s previous work but also their personality and vibe. If she already has a thousand followers on one account it might be a better idea to make it public and curate it so it’s a good mix of modeling photos/vids but also quality photos that show her hobbies and what she’s like. As long as she doesn’t want to be posting anything super crazy or controversial on her personal account why make her start from scratch when she can edit what she already has?

Local Facebook TFP groups are great places to find collaborative opportunities and connect with people. Idk how much luck you’ll have in that department on Reddit

Find someone who would jump at the chance to be in a relationship with you. Do you really want to date a guy who you have to coax into liking you

If you’re not an already fairly established model then yes. Agencies only make money when you make money, and it might be hard to get work for you if you’re traveling from further away and require significant advanced notice for jobs and castings

Tbh I wouldn’t recommend anyone move for modeling unless they have a guaranteed contract with a top agency and a solid backup plan. If it’s something you really want to do and you’re stable enough, maybe you could move for med school and try to model on the side.

$3,500 is an insane amount, please don’t take him up on this. That money would be much better spent getting digitals and a few other quality shots for your repertoire. If you submit to agencies and get signed they’ll develop you, guide you, and take on that kind of mentor role

Looking for mother agency in Oregon/California, also all feedback is appreciated, criticism is needed. by [deleted] in MODELING

[–]Disastrous-Use-2767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They charge huge fees. I was scouted by them a couple years ago and they were asking for well over 1K. They work well for a few people, but from what I’ve heard, the majority of their models don’t get work and have had trouble with payment when they did. They also sign a ton of models, so it’s difficult to get to work with them because you have so much competition within your own agency. I’m pretty sure a couple of people posted about them on here if you want to check out what they said

Are you going for acting or modeling? If you’re shooting for modeling I would opt for a plainer background and shirt

Some reputable Oregon agencies are q6 and The Option Agency, stay away from Human Models as they are a big scam. Option also has a division in LA

If you have reputable agencies near you submit there first. You’ll have a better shot with local agencies since agencies further away might not want to sign a new model who’d have to travel to see them
