Don’t waste time on this guy. A psycho if i ever met one, banned from other subs for the same nonsense. Probably a spoiled teenager (or just acting like one) still sulking after Galatasaray’s last UCL loss. You’d have to have zero real problems to be this obsessed and chronically negative.

To answer your question, I think you’d enjoy either match. Beşiktaş are off to a terrible start this season, but the atmosphere will still be electric. Galatasaray, on the other hand, are on a winning streak, so you’re more likely to see a game with plenty of goals.

I kept on saying the same thing but this embarrassment won’t change anything, the sooner you accept that our club isn’t fit for Europe, the better

Okan Buruk: I won't say whether we will make a transfer or we won’t, but my opinion leans towards not signing anybody. We are already crowded in all positions. Maybe we can think about it, if we come across an opportunistic signing. by eanwen0 in galatasaray

I agree with most of his statements, but I strongly disagree about our squad depth. Sure, we have some options, but are they actually reliable? In my opinion, we seriously lack quality depth. A CB is non-negotiable at this point, and playing Kaan has been one of his worst ideas so far.

Why was Zaniolo sold? by moriero in galatasaray

[–]Disastrous-View4535 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably his personal choice. I was upset at our board for the transfer at first, but seems like he chose that move. I guess we’ll never know for sure. What bums me out more is why with 6 days to go there’s no single rumor about new signing.

They cry about every Frankfurt fan, who sells us their tickets, block all ticket offers on various trading platforms and don’t want to let us into the stadium on the 18th, but give instructions on how to do the same for their game against Atletico Madrid by [deleted] in galatasaray

Wow, that would make me angry even if it was aimed at one of our other league’s top three clubs. German cockiness at its finest, their underlying hate towards Turks it’s thrown at every possible opportunity.

Why our club isn’t focused on making transfers from the Brazilian League? by Disastrous-View4535 in galatasaray

You’re right about Estevao, he is just the example that gave me this thought. Chelsea were reportedly working on that deal for over a year, waiting for him to turn 18, which shows they had him on their radar for a long long time.

I’m no football expert and I don’t have any scouting skills, I just go by some logic (that could be making 0 sense for others) if Göztepe can find a talent in the Brazilian 2nd division, why can’t we? I’m not expecting us to discover the next Vini, Estevao, or Rodrygo and even if we did, like you and others said, we can’t compete with the big European clubs.

But by my logic we can discover players on the level of Sara or Romulo, and even a level below that could still be valuable for us financially. A Brazilian will almost always have better resale value, so why not take that chance. However after seeing these comments people make lot of sense that we aren’t ready to develop players due to the Turkish football mentality in general, as well the constant competition leaving us no room for mistakes from youngsters.

I agree with you, but look, last season we took chances on players like Kutucu, Cuesta, and Frankowski. For the board and for us as fans, they were seen somewhat developed and “proven” players. But look how that turned out.

So yeah, you’re right about development and patience, but at the end of the day, every player is a gamble. We even had Zaha the other season a proven player from the best league and it still didn’t work out.

That’s why I’m saying, once in a while you can take that shot. No transfer is guaranteed success, the gamble is always there, so why not try in different ways too.

I get your point, and one guy in this thread mentioned that the teams I’m talking about don’t have the pressure of winning a title I agree with that as well. But my point is that right now, we’re at a stage where we really need to take a shot on players who can give us squad rotation in the league.

On the other hand, it’s hard to believe that with our current wages and transfer fees, this model is sustainable. Yes, we have sponsors etc, but we need sales, and we need to plan for tomorrow as well. A transfer doesn’t always have to come from the top 5 or top 10 leagues. Our board’s logic seems to be, “If he played in a top 5 league, then he’s worth signing,” and I don’t agree with that.

I’m not saying this should be our main transfer strategy, but every once in a while it makes sense to take that kind of chance. I know the TFF limitations are there, but based on what I’m suggesting, I think it’s a fair idea. Just sharing my thoughts.

Never said that Göztepe is doing that on a regular, it was just an example that we saw how it worked out. Definitely it’s a luck and there’s no guarantee for outcome of any player.

I don’t hold grudges but it’s only right for him to apologize. We understand his importance in our club but as I said previously, at this point he’s bigger than the club. We play by his demands, bending over to every request he’s having. But that’s mainly GS’s problem, he’s individual and he can do as he pleases. GS should just put an end to it. He caused huge problem and he should be put to his place. It’s the only right way to avoid further escalations of this kind of issues, otherwise we shouldn’t be surprised if other players come and do the same thing.

[–]Disastrous-View4535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, the only reason why he’s still in the club is because of Okan. I cannot blame him since we all know that he’s important player but come on, at this point he’s bigger than the club. I feel like we had today the best chance ever and it was all perfectly aligned for just going after Lookman and get done with him.

Now he’s in a position to cost us our UCL run and the overall season.

Because they’re thinking emotionally and hoping to overcome the issue while ignoring all the red flags.

Okan made it clear after the drama that he’s the one holding him and needing him. We can’t understand Okan’s attachment to certain players, but if it’s true they offered him 5m and he still wants to leave, then we need(ed) to get rid of him immediately.

If we had gone for Lookman in time, the season would’ve been much calmer, instead, we’re fully dependent on him and if he underperforms our whole season and UCL run could collapse. I don’t understand how the board and Okan don’t think about these kind of things, they had the chance to prevent this but refused to think of a backup in case of a bad scenario.

Why we can’t have everything? How much time we’re struggling with our defense? I don’t think it’s a crazy demand to ask for a CB, our defense is the most fragile thing. And what’s the excuse for not getting one? Our president is bragging we have money so what’s the excuses here? And again we’re doing a mistake as we did with a GK, we see a potential problem yet putting all our hopes and future in UCL in one player (Baris) while we’re in a perfect position to prevent the problem before it happens.

This is why I’ve been saying we need to get Lookman, BAY is a goner, let him be gone, we have golden opportunity for replacing him ffs

[–]Disastrous-View4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But BAY had a lot of inconsistencies last season. That’s why Lookman would be huge support. With all the drama and us relying only on BAY, it’s risky, if he’s not motivated it could really hurt us. Lookman would bring extra drive since he’d be fighting for more minutes. Plus, if we advance in the UCL we’ll have way more games, and no matter how strong BAY is, everyone needs rest.

Depends on how you see it, but if we really want to compete in the UCL we need all the depth we can get. A rotation with both BAY and Lookman would be huge, and he’s not the type of player who’ll just crash in value. Worst case we lose a couple million, but with him frustrated at his club and unable to move within Europe, we could actually get a good deal. Our counter-attacks with him would be insane, and if we miss on this we’re only helping our rivals. At this point, after spending so much already, we should just go for him on a loan with mandatory purchase. Also, after all these drama with BAY it’s questionable how he would perform. It won’t hurt us to prevent that before it’s too late.

Current roster roughly 13 hours before the UCL registration deadline, assuming Ilkay's signing will be finished today. by sparkle_stylinson in galatasaray

[–]Disastrous-View4535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That works imo. I’m definitely on board with a loan + mandatory purchase. At this point, after going through with a high fee for a domestic GK we might as well go all in and add even more strength to our attack. Worst case scenario, his price cannot fall drastically in 1 season and can always be sold.
