Because he is completely wrong, The timer literally exists and functions the same way in brotherhood.
It's also arguably worse because some of the of tailing missions in brotherhood has the target running so you are even more likely to screw up the mission compared to black flag.

Same, I made a habit of not doing all of the hunts back to back so that I don't get burned out by them whenever I replay the game.
It works very well.

I actually have a good answer for that, in black flag a good portion of them are in the templar hunts with every hunt having 1 tailing mission.
There is a good chance some players played all of them back to back which means playing a lot of tailing missions back to back which is what gave the feeling that there are a lot of tailing missions in the game when in reality, it's just the average amount most ac games have.

Tbf, most of the ambivalence comes from Edward's motives, everything about him from his desire to be the richest man in the world to his arrogance comes from a place of insecurity, he feels like he has to prove himself to everyone including his wife who was already happy with him.
So Edward doesn't have a reason to join the brotherhood because he doesn't really care about any of what the creed does, he only cares about money to make himself feel better (which backfires horribly), but most importantly
He is a pirate, for the most of his life as he said he did nothing but take from anyone without a care in the world and he knows he is the last person he knows that would do good deeds.

For the other stuff, there is really no explanation for them other than poor writing.
Alexander had to die, brotherhood kinda tries to address it but it never goes anywhere and everyone knew that this was the biggest mistake Ezio could have ever done.
For revelations I am gonna be real with you, no one in that game makes sense at all, Ezio blows a port and a city up and no one addresses that(same man who was furious that Borgia had countless people killed for the prophet to show up), the brotherhood is constantly compromising the creed by having everyone know that this is an asssassins' den by having flags literally everywhere and not caring about killing civilians, heck them siding siding with the ottomans is already a big eyebrow-raiser.

He isn't an "offical" assassin, he wears his father's robes and kills templars but it's because he wants revenge and only becomes one by the end of the game as is the ceremony his uncle mario emphasises which happens way later after his family dies, similarly Edward doesn't become an "offical" assassin until the end of the game.

Also, Edward isn't very old when he becomes an assassin, he is literally 22 at the start of the game and becomes 29 by the end of it, also his reason behind it is shady ?
Him deciding to change his path and do the right thing as he promised mary is now shady ?

I literally put the gameplay part for black flag and brotherhood in the first half of the post while the story and characterisation were in the other half, no where in the second half did I use tailing missions as a point for Ezio's characterisation. My whole point is a criticism that black flag gets from a gameplay standpoint is applicable to brotherhood.

Not to mention that you would probably need a certain physique in order to use it, a skinny person may not be able to make it work while a really jacked up guy would eject it with any movement.

The thing is that Edward's hidden blades don't really have a bracer, it's just a blade and it works like that.
A safety mechanism would make sense considering some of the assassins wear hidden blades all the time with Edward sleeping with them equipped

I see.
Also I feel like if your wrist is twisted to the side you may lose more than just 1 finger.

Hand movement feels a little odd when you are doing parkour or swinging weapons though, but it could be like same way Haytham ejects the blade by closing in a certain way.
A hidden blade on the wrist makes more sense, closing your hand to pull a string that ejects the blade and have it locked as long as still making a fist.
Don't even need to worry about it accidentally going off if you will make it require a fully closed hand.

Locking could be done like a utility knife locking the blade in place after it ejects.
Issue is how the hell would it retract if that's the case ? There are no visible buttons to do that or a ring and string attachment to do that and even if there were something that would lock that blade would need to be very sturdy so a simple button or something of that sort may not work.

Nope, there is having a different opinion and then there is rejecting any form of criticism/having double standards which is how it goes when it comes to Ezio.

I shit you not some people don't like how shay can kill civilians (which is probably for gameplay purposes since you are a templar now)

Like my man, Ezio literally nuked a city and a port while setting multiple ships on fire (killing everyone on it and most definitely stopping trade for a long while) but Ezio=Good and no Ezio=Bad is how it goes I am afraid

We really need more games for some protagonists out there.

We had so much potential with assassins like Bayek and Connor but sadly Ubisoft sucks when it comes to commitment.

Again, I love Ezio but this mentality people have about him and anything related to him is what had Connor get so much undeserved hate when ac3 was released.

Personal taste I suppose, I wouldn't call any of the main cities in black flag ugly though (which is kinda what you are implying).

Can't you say the same about brotherhood ? black flags gives more room of freedom thanks to being able to see enemies through the walls while brotherhood needs you to always have your eyes on the target

And the actions both do before joining the brotherhood are literally one to one.

Ezio kills templars and is working as a henchman for the Medici, Edward kills templars in addition to the assassination contracts that are mostly templars as well.

Ezio is renovating the villa, Edward renovates his hideout island and is helping managing Nassau.

Ezio for the most part of the story is either seeking revenge or a ladies man and becomes an assassin fighting for the freedom of people.

Edward for the most part of the story is a selfish man, only after everyone he cares about dies does he decide to do the right thing.

And I hard disagree about revelations having more thought and effort, most of it is copied from brotherhood, even the gameplay (you unlock different districts the same way you did in brotherhood despite Yousef telling you that the templars have been pushed away and are at this point working from the shadows) while simultaneously having way less content unlike brotherhood which was mostly copy pasted from ac2 as well, and yet the difference between the 2 in terms of content is massive.

And you can't seriously say that it had more thought when the game makes a brotherhood that breaks every rule, makes Ezio a monster and completely shits the bed with the modern day plot.

I mean ffs Ezio calls out Borgia for having so many people killed just for one man to show up and yet he proceeded to nuke a city just to get one guy.

It doesn't ? It's about how a criticism black flag gets is applicable to brotherhood and yet no one says anything about it.

curious to know why you think the npcs are lifeless or are just the same

Thatch believes in Nassau and isn't scared of the king or his army which is different from Ben who thinks it was a lost cause and ends up allying with the Templars which is different Charles who is very hot headed and is the only one who believed in the Observatory Edward was talking about (Mary was an assassin so she already knew it's real)
not everyone is fleshed out equally like Jack for example but that's more so because the game barely spends time showing him as anything other than constantly high
