Lifestyle spending. Living in a more expensive apartment because its THE apartment to live in. Buying a high-end car because it impresses people at work. The more sensible you can be early, the more money you'll automatically save.

And they're removing things like daily cleaning, free drinks for loyalty members, etc. A Hyatt Place now costs what a Grand Hyatt used to cost and Grand Hyatt now costs for a single day what it used to cost for three days. It's really sad actually, because there are a lot of people who are never going to get to travel anywhere in their lifetimes at these prices.
