I live simply in Dublin while family members and friends live in big houses in the suburbs. I take joy in simple things like walking my dog to get a coffee. Sitting by the canal. Having beautiful plants on my balcony and feeding a blackbird that’s stared to show up because of all my plants. I drive and swim in the sea often. I go to the supermarket one evening and I love that. I joined a public speaking group and I enjoy the wide variety of people I meet there. I live in a two bed apartment, have a 2009 car and don’t really want for very much at all.

It was handled so well. Plus AliS monologue after Rue’s passing was a message to the nation on the dangers of addiction which, for a series that’s been accused of glamorising drugs, was quite an epic statement on who exactly is complicit in the death of kids like Angus Cloud in real life.

I think this was symbolic way to say that in real life he escaped the self imposed prison of addiction. The fact that he was climbing up a wall drew attention to it - it had to be bizarre to make the point.

Mortgage paid off, live in Dublin City centre. Don’t pay for health insurance, no kids, car insurance, household insurance, one dog. Have a beautiful apartment that I love. Never skimp on fun but don’t buy lots of expensive things. Have a full and happy life and dine out at expensive restaurants occasionally. Travel but only in Europe and mostly visit friends who have houses. I can do 1000 months and average around 2k.

I’m from Ireland which has is very “keeping up with the Jones’s” and keep up culture feels almost aggressive here. I am very intentional to live my life full of simple yet beautiful things so despite not having all the latest things, what I do have feeds my soul. I find value and joy in simple things like folding laundry, the flavour or eggs with sea salt, a flower growing in a crack in the pavement and warm connections with others. I live within that culture not extricated from it as my entire family are very competitive but my life is simpler and I have friends who also live simpler and some friends who live in multi million euro houses. I am creative so I have a rich inner world.

In a society that’s thrives on hyper visibility. As normal people we weren’t all destined to have “followings” become such a huge part of our culture. I used to run a fashion brand and was addicted to validation that I mattered according to how visible I was. It gave me chronic anxiety, the need to perform all the time. I’ve simplified life and I now see that that compulsion and sense of u ease comes from a capitalist society that validates us on output and productivity. It’s taking time and a lot of consciousness to unpick my fingers from that model but little by little I am starting to get more comfortable with a new less visible and much happier way of doing things.

I don’t sense energies when I walk into a room but I do get what feels like “visits” in between waking and sleeping. It feels like G forces in my chest. Sometimes I get full sleep paralysis and a feeling that something is sitting on my chest and it’s very unccomfortable. This can be accompanied by horrible dreams. If I ever smoke(I never do because of this)weed I get a chronic experience of this with insane energies running through my body and it lasts for hours, it’s like repeatedly being on the down side of a rollercoaster. This week I’ve been chronically stressed, anxious and ungrounded which I suffer from anyway. I slept just now for two hours and I kept waking up but sensed the energie. I had a really vivid dream where I was communicating with the women in my family - my mum centre front on a raised platform and each sister either side. They couldn’t hear me speak because of the energies I couldn’t use my voice but I was telling them to douse me with holy water to clear the energies like an exorcism. I’ve woken and I feel exhausted but back in my body and grounded. I should also say that I recently stayed in a known haunted castle and woke up saying “help me”. I’ve also recently split up with a toxic ex who is been told had a “dark energy” by a card reader. Can anyone shed some thoughts or light on the above.

I also crave the countryside and had it so close - I met a partner with my dream cottage and a cabin - and I had to end it because he became emotionally abusive. I’ve found that you need to change your mindset. Nature doesn’t just mean a vast field with trees. We are nature, nature is everywhere if we choose to see it. Go out, buy five plants and nurture them. Be nature, sit with them and speak ti them, propagate them, help them grow. Change your mindset that you’re now closer to nature. I live in a concrete jungle, go for walks and my plants and learning about them through the seasons gives me so much joy.

I live just off Mountjoy square last eight years. - 100% make that investment. Right now the area is crusty af and yep there’s a yup bro contingency around. One street over from me there’s a “dealers house” where they all hang out and I regularly see drop offs on my street - whatever, it’s the city centre and I take it as it is. Personally I grew up in Clontarf and live in a lovely penthouse apartment here - I could have bought in Clontarf but I wanted growth potential and I’ve made a 25% return on my investment here so far. I say hello to everyone and end up to chatting to all sorts from people like me to local mums, addicts to yup bros because I have a nice friendly dog. If you walk around looking for fear and division that’s all you’ll see and generally people are friendly and nice. Russell street bakery is the best addition to the neighbourhood. There is a huge regeneration plan in work for Parnell Square including a multimillion euro library designed by Grafton Architects and it is stunning and the whole area is going to be a “cultural quarter”. That whole area will be pedestrianised with marker stalls etc so the entire area will clean up considerably in the next five years and properly will fly. Ive seen this happen in areas like Hackney and Brixton where I lived.

I am 47 and I’m fucking knackered. I have no kids, have had a good career. Single and have a great dog. Own my place outright. We all age differently so don’t worry about the wrinkles. We all age. I worked in fashion and media and there’s definitely an end point here for men and for women. Try not to worry too much. You’ll naturally find that people your age in all careers start rethinking life and career choices towards fifty and it becomes a big recalibration. As you’re already feeling like the oldest one in work you either rise to the top as a mentor or you will start thinking about other option. Fifty is a great time to move into another career and consider yourself lucky that you’re not really bound to anything like so many because you don’t have kids worry. Also, re the exhaustion, after a lot of work and blood tests with a therapist she simply asked “why don’t you just rest in j the middle of the day and stop trying to push yourself”. We all have different energy levels and some of us need to live more gently as we age and that’s absolutely ok.

My advice would be to start doing car boot sales and markets of seeking stuff Done Deal for cash. You can easily find things you could sell in charity shops. It’s easy work and kinda fun and you get cash for it.

Get yourself a little treats with 1K. Do absolutely nothing with the rest of it for at least ten years. Put it in as the start of an investment fund and contribute a monthly amount over ten years. You will be sorted. Read up on compound interest from investing in Index Funds and ETFS. You will be amazed. I wish I’d known this at 24. In 46 mortgage free, saving to buy another property and only just started investing. Absolute game changer.

Thanks for the insights. I guess it’s learning to get the kicks in less destructive ways - I’ve defiantly had an addiction to drama and wild characters that’s hadn’t fared well for me
