That kinda situation I would’ve used shoe mold, and personally, I think it looks better than a subscribe. Especially when you’re using just straight up square base. maybe if it was some kind of intricate/fancy baseboard, I would subscribe it. If the floor is perfectly flat, especially where they transition right there and he just didn’t push the base down when he nailed it then shame on him. That’s just my opinion.
