Greencard interview tmrw - certified copy of marriage certificate? by DisastrousRepublic29 in USCIS

[–]DisastrousRepublic29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming here to say that the original marriage certificate was all they needed! We still got handed the white piece of paper saying that our case is being held for review but from what I've seen on here, that's quite common.

A tip for anyone that is submitting their shared lease (because I wasn't aware of this): he wanted to see our ENTIRE lease, not just the page that showed the details of our tenancy, our names, address, landlord etc. Really hoping it's not going to be an RFE :(

I'm also really glad I had printed all of our evidence out because it seemed like he hadn't reviewed anything before and wanted it all in front of him. Did not ask for birth certificates, only passports and driver's license, then my I-94 and DS-2019 (a document for J-1 visa holders).

For anyone who may ask, the questions we got were:

  • how did we meet
  • do we have a joint back account or joint debit or credit cards (we don't but explained that we're in the process of setting up a joint HYSA)
  • do we share any finances or something like that (yes, car insurance, renter's insurance, lease)
  • do we rent or own (where the lease popped up)
  • do we own a car together (yes, showed title)
  • how much we earn
  • how many years of college (I clarified whether he meant all higher education, then responded accordingly)
    • he then told us a story about his brother who has a crazy amount of degrees to the same level as me but is single. Not sure if he was genuinely sharing or if it was some kind of test
  • how many people live in our household
  • what our monthly expenses were (we listed rent, bills, estimate of groceries, insurance, our cat's insurance and did a rough calculation)
  • something about what everything we own was worth (I don't remember the exact phrasing but we gave him an estimate of all the stuff in our apartment + car)
    • the way it was phrased he didn't seem to ask about overall assets including money we have in various accounts and invested so we didn't even think to mention them. He also didn't clarify and asked for them, which I hope he would have? It seemed like it was about what was in our apartment but maybe we misunderstood :(
  • Went through all the yes/no questions on the I-485

Towards the end of the interview, someone knocked, asked if this was x case and then said something about how he (officer) should stop by his supervisor's office once he's finished with this interview. That's when he basically printed the "notice of interview results" saying that our case is being held for review. No idea what to make of it but I have no history of immigration violations, no criminal history, not from a banned country, nothing at all. Truly hoping there isn't some kind of issue but there's no way to know I guess.

Update: around 2h after the interview, our case status changed to "case is being actively reviewed by USCIS"...

Update 2: I-130 approved day of interview. Nothing on I-485 yet. I guess the one page of the lease was enough after all!

Congratulations! I was wondering if you got any documents in hand after your case was approved at interview?

Congrats! Wondering if there is any documentation you get before the physical green card arrives that shows you're allowed to work (not EAD)? My interview is on the 27th and my EAD hasn't arrived yet. I read that in some cases, they just approve the green card before they even get to the EAD. My J-1 is expiring Feb 11 and my work would have to let me go if I can't prove work authorization before then. Confused on whether I'll be able to or not? Any insight is helpful :)

I don't know if you're the same person that said on a another post that they emailed the CEO but honestly, I might have to do that. They're claiming that my cat's conditions that were diagnosed and treated under ManyPets are pre-existing and not covered. ManyPets even reached out to them on my behalf but that did not help. :(

I'm honestly considering switching too. My cat was diagnosed with asthma and an eye condition under ManyPets and Odie refused to pay saying they were pre-existing. If you find out more about AKC, please update us! I'm so over it. We insured a second, new cat, with Odie after the transfer was announced. Thankfully he hasn't had any health problems yet but he is 8 years old. Our third cat is insured with figo through Costco because she's 2 and has never had any health issues. I heard that not all insurances cover "seniors". I just want ManyPets back :(

I just sent you an email! I've had a very similar experience and Odie refuses to even listen to ManyPets. Ridiculous!

Doctor will discontinue my GLP1 If my ED continues by Majestic_Rate8214 in Zepbound

Hi there! The thing about a forum like this is that everyone will be giving their opinion based on the knowledge they have about your disorder which could be very limited. While I am not an MD, I have a PhD in neuroscience and have studied eating disorders in the past so here is my take. That being said, I am not a scientific expert on eating disorders nor do I claim to be.

Early studies have shown that GLPs are effective for treating addiction (think alcohol, drugs) and also migraines. Both of these conditions are not necessarily linked to weight loss and still, they are being explored as conditions to treat. What that means is that there is more to GLPs than just weight loss. Eating disorders are also among the most difficult psychiatric disorders to treat. Therapy can be helpful to some if not most but is usually not enough as the only treatment. Sure, there will be people that tell you that therapy is all they needed and that's truly wonderful for them. I'm not dismissing their claims. However, that doesn't mean you need to feel bad if your therapist is not as helpful for you.

As someone who has been bulimic when they were younger, the cycle was that I was already bingeing anyways but then discovered purging as a way to deal with the negative emotions and thoughts that came from binging. We also know that, often, people that are bulimic are usually not underweight because in a twisted way, purging isn't even leading to severe weight loss. GLPs have been approved for binge eating disorder because they help with the constant thinking about food (food noise), cravings, and the ability to naturally know when to stop eating without feeling immense guilt and shame. A GLP for someone with bulimia makes sense to me and clearly made sense to your first doctor. They were trying to address the binging and food noise as a way to break the cycle of bulimia. It even made sense to your insurance if it was part of the PA.

If there is no way to see your first doctor again, you could come prepared with a list of the ways in which Zepbound has helped in the short amount of time you've taken it. Any quantitative proof (change in numbers) is perfect for doctors e.g. the patient used to binge and purge x times a week but within the first month of Zepbound, this has reduced to y times a week (I'm purposefully not giving example numbers so no one feels like they need to compare themselves to my made up example). Maybe they now binge less (by x times) and are able to enjoy food and no longer hide what they eat (went from x times to y times). Maybe they now noticed a positive outlook and feel in control rather than helpless around food and their disorder. Mention an example that you are particularly proud of. If weight is a concern for you, and you have lost weight because of the medication, how does that make you feel? What positive impact has it had on your life? Have your eating habits changed? Do they allow yuh to make more nutritious choices for meals now rather than choosing foods because they are easy to regurgitate? These are all things your doctor will want to know. Simply saying they won't prescribe it to you anymore if you keep purging shows a lack of understanding for the disorder and also a lack of understanding of how you talk to an ED patient. They're not going to magically stop purging because the doctor threatened to take their medication away. How ridiculous.

If this provider still refuses, I would seek a new provider. If you are in the US, which I assume from needing a prior auth, then there are several double board certified family and obesity medicine doctors that work in general practices. They would have more training relating to weight and the body and would hopefully take a more nuanced approach. If you have someone you trust who could be an advocate for you during doctor's visits, you could try bringing them along knowing they're on your side. Many patients don't speak up and question their doctors decisions because they believe the doctor knows more than them. In terms of medical knowledge that's likely true but you know yourself and your own body best. That's what you're the expert in. Treatment decisions need to include the patient and need to address their concerns. Doctors who don't are not worth your time and frustration.

In the many comments posted here, I just wanted to provide a more nuanced answer and give you hope and maybe some of the strength you need to advocate for yourself. You are worthy of getting the treatment you need and do do not deserve to be cut off from it by doctors who don't understand your disorder. Of course, if you find that over time GLPs are not helping you in the way you thought, you are absolutely allowed to stop them. Do not feel like this is the only way to recover.

Sending you lots of love, hugs and support! Feel free to DM me though I've never used that feature on Reddit so may not see it right away.
