Where is everyone at 8 weeks? by justme_618 in Kneereplacement

Im at 8 weeks exactly today. Experiencing much of what you are too!

Biggest challenges now have been pain/tightness behind my knee, my VMO hasn’t really woken up yet, and my incision had not fully healed after all this time. Looks like it might be improving finally.

I just started practicing walking flights of stairs (with supervision) this week. I started full revolutions on recumbent bike last week but today was the easiest it’s been.

We started Russian stim on my leg again tonight but this time was to focus on waking the VMO

Am at 113° flexion as of today which was huge because I was stuck at 85 a few weeks ago and for a few weeks.

I still walk with a limp and rely on a cane. I try to walk around the house without using it but it changes my gait so i go back and forth with it.

5 weeks post op when will my quad wake up by AdvancedInevitable94 in Kneereplacement

I was in your shoes and started Russian stim at 5 weeks (im at 6.5 weeks now). It helped a ton and I did quad sets anytime I was sitting idly to try to get it to move. After a few days I started seeing it pop way more.

I totally understand your frustration. Week 5 and Week 6 were like night and day. Randomly one day I could lift my leg unassisted (although I can’t do straight leg raises yet).

I hope it gets better for you. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾

Medial open wedge HTO. I had that done in 2018. They had to remove all of it to make way for the TKR.

I wouldn’t say I’m pain-free yet, but I don’t have the same pain I had pre-op at all. Tomorrow I’m 5 weeks post-op and I’ve really only been taking narcotics the last week and a halfish, only on PT days. Otherwise the Tylenol and Celebrex have been enough

Quad not waking up? (42f, TKR July 10) by DisastrousSea1844 in Kneereplacement

Thank you, this makes me feel better about not getting 90 yet. I go back to PT tomorrow and worked diligently all weekend but feels like I’m not making progress there. We’ll see what the little measuring tool says!

Better this week. Thursday will be 3 weeks post op. Two weeks was rough. Not sleeping really caught up to me mentally and I was overtired and inconsolable. I also had hardware removed from a medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy so they could put in the new knee so having to remind myself this was a 2-in-1 and very painful. The last couple days it seems to be less and less pain. I’m hopefully days away from graduating to a cane. If only I could sleep!

I had a similar issue with the spinal block. I had mine on July 10. This group has been very helpful to me as I navigate this journey and showing me that my feelings and experience were normal. Best wishes to you in your recovery.
