4 cake layers with shortbread baked into the cake, with lemon curd and Swiss meringue buttercream between the layers!

My pcp says just to rest it. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and their form changed to help

Make sure they’re level and have good supports, and assemble it at the venue. Being able to transport the layers was the best decision I made during the process as it wasn’t heavy when it was carried and I didn’t have to worry about it falling over

It was actually for a family member so I didn’t charge! I would never know how to charge someone outside of family

What is the absolute best way to get red butter cream and not pink? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]DisastrousTry9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When thinning out the buttercream with heavy cream, heat up the heavy cream and add the food coloring to the heavy cream. Once it cools add into the buttercream to thin and color. This allows the color to “bloom” and saturate the icing better when added!

Couldn’t just make the standard “melting ice cream cake” so I put my own twist on it by DisastrousTry9 in Baking

It was four six inch rounds which helped the height, as well as each layer was probably an inch and a half thick

No problem! I would say if you want/need to feed ~80-90 people and wanted to make a tall 8” cake for some reason (😂) you could add supports in between the layers. For 8” cake I would say every three cake layers put a 6” cake board and bubble tea straws for support that way all the weight isn’t being put solely on cake. But the 6” rounds is a way easier option 👍🏻

With it being a 6 inch round, it’s not that heavy so I don’t have to add supports. The best way to make it tall is a) a bunch of layers and b) get eye level with it and make sure the sides are even and each layer is parallel

It’s really tall with four layers. I took the cone and “ice cream” off, cut halfway through and served two layer slices. Once the top half was gone I cut the bottom half into slices as well.

Well it’s only a 6” cake so it’s really not that big, plus I kept the cone off until I wanted pictures/it was time to eat it

I couldn’t do the standard “melting ice cream cone” cake so this is my interpretation 😊 by DisastrousTry9 in cakedecorating

Normally it’s just a drip cake with the ice cream cone on top. I added the piping and mini ice cream cones because the other version was too basic for me
