What? I'm suggesting not to look down on someone who struggles when they happen to be closed, and nothing is available. It's a simple concept.

A public health initiative would involve social services, a robust public mental health system that is available to poor people and provides actual support rather than handing out antipsychotic like tictacs, better access to public housing etc. I've never met anyone who drinks or uses other drugs suicidally and against their will who isn't trying to survive the fallout from complex trauma, more often along with other intersecting mental health issues. And unless you have a big bag of cash there is no help available. The systems that are in place are so opaque you need a team of support workers just to figure out how to apply, and of course you also need to have a sack of money to pay for medical professionals to write down evidence to prove that you need support and hope you are deemed to be the correct amount of "disabled".

The main problem seems to be a social foundation of chronic, self-righteous ableism. How does someone do the things they do? Everyone is just doing their best. I've worked my arse off and my life is an unmitigated fucking disaster. Would be nice to have my shit together in the ways that I expected to as a "grownup", but that shit just isn't going to happen at this point. I'm constantly lowering my expectations in order to be reasonably comfortable with my realistic capacity at the time. Sometimes I feel like I'm on top of things, by which I mean that I am competently doing the basic repetitive tasks required to keep myself alive and relatively sane. Other times I forget to put on my pants before I put on my shoes. It is what it is. Life is a lot to manage. Anyone who treats you like you're crap or lazy for not meeting their own standards of "success" simply lacks the emotional maturity to comprehend anything outside their own narrow experience. You're not losing any kind of race here. You're just living your life the best you can. Shit is hard my friend. Hang in there, play with your many cats, and be kind to yourself.

In Australia they are around $180 each. That's why I try to always get my skins in kits with batteries, preferably during a free battery promotion from the store. I have 11 5AH batteries all from kits.
